A classic sports car known for its iconic design and impressive performance, the Porsche 356B 1600 S features elegant bodywork and a 1.6-liter flat-four engine. This 1963 example features T6 bodywork produced by Karmann with a distinctive twin-grille rear decklid. Said to have been a lifelong Northern California car, this stunning numbers-matching 356B benefits from a recent engine-out service and is now being offered for auction.
This Karmann Coupe is said to have undergone a professional glass-out refinish in its factory-specified color of Ivory. Characteristics include chrome bumpers with integrated exhaust outlets, a twin-grille rear decklid, and chrome headlight guards. The 15” slotted wheels are fitted with chrome Super hubcaps and a set of older Big O tires. The seller notes a minor imperfection on the front driver's side fender as well as the right rear passenger fender. Additionally, there have been a few chips on the door edge which have been touched up. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin presents black vinyl upholstery with matching square-weave carpeting below. Equipment includes a three-spoke steering wheel, lap belts, a locking glove box, and auxiliary gauges mounted below the center dashboard. The seller notes that the seats and carpet have been reupholstered and the original Becker radio is included in a separate box. All gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.
An original Type 1,600cc 616/12 flat-four Super engine delivers power to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual gearbox. The seller states the numbers-matching transmission was rebuilt approximately 2k miles ago. Additionally, a complete engine-out service was reportedly completed on July 7, 2023, including the replacement of the rear main seal, a valve adjustment, and complete rebuilds of the carburetors with ultrasonic cleaning. Some gaskets are also said to have been replaced along with brake adjustments and an oil and filter change.
This sale will include a clean title, owner's manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire and a Kardex.
The seller would like you to know: “An increasingly rare chance to own a low mile 2 owner California 356 that's straight and not hit or rusty. Still retaining both original black plates and many original features.”

@skylane9 hello sorry for the late reply. The front drivers fended has a very small crack in the paint maybe half an inch long. The rear passenger fender even less of blemish. I have only owned this car for a short while.
Would you elaborate what minor imperfection on the front driver's side fender as well as the right rear passenger fender? How long have you owned your 356?

@bigvitty4u Thank you for your proper response, and thank you for the clarification! 👍🏻
Hello everyone. Welcome to the auction. I'm here to help I'm any way!
@FlyBoi hello please look at the photos where you will find the photos of both the engine and transmission numbers and a copy.of the Kardex and even original sales booklet with the numbers hand written in showing it to be numbers matching. Thank you for your question
Seller states it’s a numbers matching transmission, but an “original type 1600 motor”. Is the current engine not the original numbers matching motor?
