This Porsche 356B 1600 Super Karmann Coupe is said to have been originally delivered to a Porsche dealer in Great Britain in March of 1963, and later to its first owner in the U.S. at European Cars Ypsilanti, Inc. of Michigan. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and extensive documentation, this Ivory 356B Coupe is said to remain in highly original condition and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This Coupe is presented in its factory-specified Ivory (6204) paint color with chrome accents and gold lettering. The 15” steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Accompanying invoices show replacements of various gaskets, seals, trim pieces, and hardware throughout the body.

The interior presents Black leatherette upholstery which covers the seats, door panels, and dashboard. Ahead the three-spoke black-polished steering wheel is an exterior color-matched instrument panel. Chrome accents can be found throughout the interior along with a gold-finished Porsche insignia. The interior is described to be in excellent original  condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery.

This 356B carries its original 1600cc Super flat-four carbureted engine paired with a number’s matching 4-speed manual transmission. For the T6 series, the 1600 Super engine received an improved oil cooler, composite steel/aluminum pushrods, and upgraded piston rings running in cast-iron cylinders. The seller adds that this example has been extensively maintained as shown in the documentation. Images of the drivetrain stampings and Porsche COA are available for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include a clean title, extensive documentation, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Just talked to the owner from 1988-2005. Very exciting, this car has been cherished by all previous owners. Bid with confidence!

@ebres63081 what more ownership history would you want or expect? There is a list of the owners compiled by one of the more previous owners (based on hand writing) it is based off the records which have all been uploaded to photo section. I suggest you spend the time to read through all provided documentation and it speaks for itself. We found this car for our client about 2 years ago.

@Workshop5001 can you give a little more ownership history? The person who made all these notes over the years... Is that the seller? If not when did you acquire?

@Molly63 start bidding and when you win it you can put as many miles as you want on it… There is no sad story here, this car has been cherished and preserved. It will be enjoyed by generations to come.

Very nice car but in some ways a sad story, think of all the missed opportunities to enjoy driving this beauty, my 62 B has a little over 283,000 miles and containers full of memories, good luck to buyer and seller

@artichoke the mileage is original, it has not turned over! See attached documentation. There has not been rust repair, nor is it needed. This is one of the finest survivor cars on the planet. Paint is almost all original. Repairs were documented. I can be reached anytime to discuss.

  • artichoke (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Gorgeous!!! Is the paint all original? Any rust restoration done or needed? Has the car been in any accidents? Can we assume the actual mileage is 145,659mi?

@Harboc I would absolutely consider this a concours condition vehicle, certainly in a preservation class. In the records is a receipt from work we did shortly after client purchased vehicle. It needed very little to be no excuses mechanically. The car is ready to drive and enjoy or show.

  • Harboc 1 year, 10 monthsago

    Is the car considered ‘concours’?

  • Workshop5001 (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Hello bidders! We are proud to represent this 356 for our client. It is a magnificent unrestored survivor car. The odometer has never turned over, the 46,700mi is original and the vehicle history has always been documented. Happy to answer questions!
