The original Jaguar E-Type, or XK-E as it was marketed in the United States, draws inspiration from the Le Mans-winning D-Type race car and featured unitary construction, disc brakes, independent suspension, and a powerful inline six-cylinder engine. One of the most recognizable sports cars of all time, it was rumored that Enzo Ferrari lauded the E-Type as “the most beautiful car ever made” upon its debut in 1961. The seller acquired this 1963 Series I 3.8 Coupe after it was parked in the previous owner's garage for over 26 years and subsequently performed an extensive restoration during the next 4 years. This XK-E is now being offered for auction out of Utah.

The XK-E is constructed of aerodynamically optimized styling and elegant lines. This example has been refinished in its factory Opalescent Silver Blue color, and the 15” Dayton chrome wire wheels come fitted with Jaguar knock-off hubs and a set of period-style Vercelli whitewall tires. The seller adds that new glass headlight covers have been installed and minor imperfections can be seen in areas of the chrome trim pieces. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, you will find a black leather interior with matching carpets and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel that frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160 MPH speedometer and a 6k-RPM tachometer. The center stack houses various auxiliary gauges and mechanical switches. The seller adds that all gauges and accessories are working properly apart from the analog clock.

This XK-E is equipped with a carbureted 3.8L inline-six engine sending as much as 265 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. Standard features include an independent coil-spring rear suspension, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and a synchromesh gearbox. As part of the extensive restoration, the entire engine and differential have been rebuilt, including a new suspension, shocks, and struts. Additionally, the braking has been refreshed along with the electronic ignition, cooling systems, and CoolCat fan. The seller reports the vehicle runs well, although some fine-tuning may be required due to dieseling after the engine is turned off.

This sale will include a clean title, miscellaneous spare parts, a set of wire wheels, and a quart of Opalescent Silver Blue touch-up paint.

@Cozad1955 Restoration was done 6 months ago, no rust on the car. Diesel is due to more tuning needed but due to health conditions I’m not able to work on the car anymore, runs great.

When was the restoration complete? Wonder why it “diesels”. Do you have the invoices ? Any rust ?
