In 1962, the new T6-generation Porsche 356B saw notable updates including a broader front lid at the base and a relocated tank cap on the front right wing. Additionally, the enlarged bonnet now featured two vertical ventilation grilles. This inaugural-year T6 was first delivered in California and has remained in the possession of its original owner since. From 2002 to 2004, meticulous efforts were made towards its restoration amounting to a total expenditure of approximately $55k. With no expense spared, this 356B comes accompanied by various service records, a copy of the original Kardex, and photos capturing significant moments with the original purchaser. Refinished in Silver Metallic over red upholstery, this numbers-matching Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia.
During the comprehensive bare-metal restoration process, this example underwent a glass-out refinish, opting for Silver Metallic in favor of its original Slate Grey color. Details include a replacement black convertible soft top, chrome trim, a gold-anodized model designation, 15” chrome wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps, and a twin-grille engine lid. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The interior was reupholstered in red leather and fitted with new German square-weave carpeting during the restoration. Details include black floor mats, a body-colored dashboard, a black three-spoke steering wheel, and a locking glovebox. The seller adds that the VDO instrumentation, Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo, and glass windows remain original to the car. All gauges and accessories are confirmed to be in working order.
Power is derived from its original 1600cc flat-four engine, rebuilt and modified by specialist Tim Berardelli to produce a claimed output of approximately 85 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a numbers-matching 4-speed manual transmission, images of the drivetrain stampings are available for reference. Notable mechanical work includes new pistons, valves, a new clutch, shocks, bushings, and brakes. A host of service documentation is provided for reference in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title, the owner’s manual, a jack, a toolkit, a Kardex, service records, and memorabilia.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a very unique car owned by the original purchaser for 62 years. A lifetime of paperwork photos and memories come with it. The car underwent a $55,000 bare metal restoration from 2002 to 2004. The silver paint looks great as does the new top and red leather interior. The engine has been rebuilt to 85 hp. The whole car is numbers matching confirmed by the factory Kardex. This is a great car to drive and enjoy or put in your collection.”

Can you confirm the transmission is original "numbers matching"? The tire code appears to show 12 year old tires, can you confirm? Can you post a picture of the torsion bars from underneath as well as floor pans? Just a comment, but the car appears to lean towards the left in the rear end? Different pictures of interior the clock is always at the same time, so it does not appear ALL instrumentation is fully functional, can you comment on the operation of the instrument cluster and clock? Radio should be ONLY AM for year, can you confirm this really IS the original radio. Lastly, seller states recent NEW brakes, shocks, clutch but I see no documentation for the parts or work?? GLWTS

very nice sound, decent look, door bottom to outer rocker align coulda been a little better during the redo, but all in all appears to be a respectable driver. some more pics of underbelly and wheel wells would be insightful especially on a lift with wheels removed. and what is the apparent paint color diff with the driver door all about? and is there some exhaust leakage discoloring the RR bumper and deco strip? must admit, those spider webs are growing on me. eek! sad the slate gray got discarded cuz that is truly a classic combo with red.
@Riffian agreed, especially the bug detritus on the front bumper and the could be respectable floor mats. a $300 detail gets ya three times that back in resale imhgo ~[:- )
@RotesAuto Hi Yes the car definitely has rear seats Red leather like rest of car cws
Note to seller, clean the car before taking pictures. Nothing like seeing cobwebs all over the car.
Note to next owner: This car still has it's Tach for a Normal engine while the engine is now Super+ and will rev freely to 5000 RPM.
Lovely car. Can you confirm the rear seats are present? I was unable to confirm in the pictures provided. Thanks
