The Morgan Plus 4 Super Sport is a classic British roadster, celebrated for its timeless design and impressive mechanical capabilities. Powered by a 2.1-liter inline-four engine with twin Weber side-draft carburetors and a 4-speed manual transmission, this 1962 example is refinished in green over a black leather interior. It features a black soft top, a tonneau cover, exterior chrome accents, a split engine cover with louvers and a side scoop, dual side mirrors, a luggage rack, bucket seats, a wood dashboard, and 15″ wire-spoke wheels. This Plus 4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
The Morgan Plus 4 Super Sport features an aluminum body mounted on a traditional wooden frame, with a design that includes a long hood with a split engine cover, louvers, a side scoop, a short rear deck, and a distinctive sloping grille. This example is refinished in green and features a black vinyl soft top and a black tonneau cover, complemented by chrome accents on the bumpers, headlamp housings, door handles, windshield frame, and luggage rack. It rides on chrome-finished 15” wire-spoke wheels with 165-series Michelin XZX tires and a matching spare mounted in the rear. The seller notes scratches and other road-going imperfections on the body, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The right-hand-drive cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather, complemented by matching door panels and trim. The wooden dashboard houses Smiths analog gauges, including a speedometer, tachometer, amperage, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure gauge. Additional features include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, lap belts, a driver’s side wood floorboard, and a storage compartment. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order.
Power comes from a 2.1-liter inline-four engine sourced from Triumph and equipped with twin Weber side-draft DCOE carburetors with open-element air cleaners, a valve cover with “Lawrence Tune” scripting, and an exhaust manifold connected to an exhaust system routed under the right side of the car. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission, and the front disc and rear drum brakes facilitate stopping power.
This sale will include side curtains, bench seatback upholstery, European-style license plates, and a clean title.

I concur. These are the "Holy Grails" of Morgan cars of those built from the '50's forward...they were the dual purpose street/race cars from Morgan with Christopher Lawrence modified Triumph engines and an aluminum body....they are simply spectacular to drive...the roar of the Supersport engines combined with the air induction sounds thru the velocity stack Webers is incredible...simply one of the greatest sportscars of all time.
Someone needs to increase the details and discuss the rarity of this Super Sport or the results will be just as dismal as the last auction.
