This 1962 Ford Thunderbird hardtop coupe is finished in white over black upholstery and is powered by a 390ci V8 linked to a Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. It features 14” steel wheels, a swing-away steering wheel, power-adjustable seats, and much more. It is now available for auction out of New York, with all proceeds benefiting the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF), a non-profit, no-kill shelter that relies on donor and volunteer support to care for homeless animals and find them loving homes.
The third-generation Ford Thunderbird features sleek, streamlined styling with a low, wide stance. This example is finished in white, complemented with chrome accents. Details include a pronounced front grille with quad headlights, a functional hood scoop, and a distinctive rear deck with subtle tailfins and integrated round taillights. It rides on 14” steel wheels with spinner-style covers. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features black upholstery on the power-adjustable front seats, rear bench, dashboard, center console, and door panels. Stainless steel trim accents the center console, instrument panel, door panels, and rear quarter trim panels. Equipment includes a swing-away 3-spoke steering wheel, multi-gauge instrumentation, an analog clock, power windows, lap belts, and an AM radio. The seller adds that a center console and tachometer were replaced.
Beneath the hood lies a 390ci V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor. This engine generates power to the rear wheels through a Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. Power-assisted drum brakes at all four corners provide stopping power. The seller notes that the radiator and water pump were replaced.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “The Allan Family is the third owner of the car. A woman on the North Fork originally purchased it and then sold it to a local doctor. The current family has owned it for over thirty years and kept it garaged the whole time. Less than 1k miles per year, only driven to parades and special events. Those are the original miles on the car. Only the water pump and radiator were replaced last year, and all the remaining engine parts are original to the car.”

@TheVintageCarGuy The car is only up for auction and not for sale
@SouthamptonAnimal Is there a reason the wording was photoshopped out of the banner and sign in pic #90, the listing lead photo? Was this lsted for sale as well as being auctioned for charity?
@PlugGuy The listing text has been updated.
Nice example. Description says manual windows, but this appears to have electric switches. GLWS.

Does the aftermarket in-dash cassette deck still work?
Great looking survivor! But why would the center console need to be replaced? Especially with the car having such low mileage. Thanks & best wishes for a good sale! Animals have the right of way at all times.
Love the car. Love the cause. Glwta. Just one question. The listing states "The seller adds that a center console and tachometer were replaced." My question is, What tachometer? I don't believe this car has a tachometer.
