Produced from 1953 to 1962, the C1 is the original Chevrolet Corvette. Debuted as the quickest of the generation, this final year example features a 327ci V8 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and has been refinished in its factory-specified color of Honduras Maroon with contrasting white coves over reupholstered black leather. Reportedly recently imported from a private collection in Colombia, this C1 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
This C1 has been refinished in its factory-specified finish of Honduras Maroon contrasted with white coves and a newly installed white soft top. Details include quad headlights, faux fender vents, and dual exhaust outlets, as well as chrome trim along the front grille, split bumpers, light surrounds, and driver's side mirror, as well as chrome rocker panels which were specific to the last of the C1 generation. It rides on chrome-finished 15” Cragar S/S-style wheels dressed in new white-walled Coker Classic tires. The seller notes that the original wheels and hubcaps are included with the sale. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the cabin has been newly reupholstered in black leather with new black carpeting, along with exterior-matching paintwork that accents the door panels, center console, and gauge cluster. Interior appointments include silver passenger-side dash trimming with “Corvette” lettering, manually operated windows, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, an analog clock, and lap belts. The seller adds that a new dashboard has also been installed.
This 1962 Corvette is powered by a 327ci aluminum four-barrel carbureted V8 engine that was factory-rated at 300 HP. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the last of the C1 generation were the last Corvettes to use the coveted "solid-axle" suspension. This example is said to have recently undergone extensive maintenance including an oil change, an undercarriage refresh, and a newly installed OEM carburetor, fuel pump, front electric fan, and gas tank.
This sale will include a clean title, the original wheels and hubcaps, and a car cover.
