This 1961 Porsche 356B T5 Coupe underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2014, including a bare metal refinish in grey over custom tan upholstery featuring AVUS Custom Racing bucket seats, a roll bar, and a Nardi Torino steering wheel. Power is provided by a 1,600cc flat-four engine sourced from a 1966 Porsche 912. Upon the seller’s acquisition in March 2020, a meticulous rebuild of the engine and transmission was performed. With less than 90 miles driven since, this tastefully appointed 356B is now being offered for auction out of Virginia accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
In 2014, this Coupe was stripped to bare metal and refinished in grey by the specialists at Art Car, Inc. Modifications include Marchal fog lights, drilled door handles, and a hood-mounted drilled gas cap. Since the seller’s acquisition, the window, windshield, and rear glass seals, have been replaced, and chrome Wide 5-style steel wheels have been fitted with Vredestein Sport Classic tires mounted just under two years ago and driven less than 90 miles. The seller notes the bumpers were replaced, and the rear engine deck lid does not latch. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin has been restored with tan upholstery spanning the upper dashboard panel and upgraded AVUS Custom Racing bucket seats. It features a Nardi Torino wood-rimmed steering wheel, a roll bar, a push-button horn mounted to the right of the steering wheel, and a toggle switch replacing the original windshield wiper control. The seller confirms that all gauges are fully functional following inspection and repairs by Auto Sportsystems Group during the restoration completed in 2023. However, the emergency brake assembly causes the brake to latch unreliably.
Power comes from a replacement air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four engine that was reportedly sourced from a 1966 Porsche 912 and installed in 2014. A 4-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels. The engine and transmission were rebuilt from 2022 to 2023, and less than 900 miles have been driven since. Other work included rebuilding the steering box, rear brake drums, and rocker arms, as well as updating the 12V electrical wiring/battery.
This sale will include a clean title and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
The seller would like you to know: “Thanks for visiting my auction. I've owned this Outlaw 356 for four years. After an extensive mechanical restoration, it's in great shape, a lot of fun to drive, and a real head-turner. The car is stored in a climate-controlled garage. It's a great example of a unique and beautifully restored 356B Outlaw Coupe.”

Thanks for the pics. This is the hood. I was asking of the vin # stamped on the chassis in the front trunk under the rubber carpet. If you can’t proof this I have to assume, this is an other body.
@kireneslo Not sure if it was tracked. When I purchased I was told it was sourced from 912. No compression tests that i know of. It was completely rebuilt and that was completed in 2023.

U indicate engine sourced from 912. Art car notes say" VW4". Any proof either way? Any compression tests? Was this car tracked by prior owner?
Could you please show the vin # stamped in the front trunk under the rubber mat?
@Ferry Sunroof was taken out some time before I had the car. It may have been taken out when they did the body work in Florida in 2014 (some pics at the end on this). They were trying to make it a track car (roll bar, custom seats, etc., so they may have decided to delete the sunroof, but that's just a guess.
I would just upload the driving video to YouTube and past the link in the comments. Cool car.
Where is the sunroof mantioned in the COA?
@kireneslo Understand and thanks for the heads up. I thought it was on the site but was mistaken. I have asked the guys at the market to see if they have the video so we can upload it.
Drive video pretty important.
@MonstaWerx Sold with VA title. Also added pic of COA
@kireneslo
There was a drive video taken but not sure why it didn't make the post.

@MonstaWerx Not really sure on that one - this was the only door badge when I received delivery from previous owner.
@MonstaWerx sorry, just saw where you’ve answered that
Why no drive Video?
Is this sold with a Virginia Title, or just a bill of sale?
Can you post the certificate of authenticity?
Picture 51/96 on this link shows what is usually inside the driver’s door jamb: https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/dealtank-1961-porsche-356-b-coupe-3/
Where is the serial number badge that is usually riveted in the front part of the driver’s side door jamb. There is usually 2 badges. The pictures only show 1. Please explain.
Thx

Hey - thanks for the note. I'm 6' even and I'm good with the pedals with seat all the way back. If it was farther back I would have a problem depressing the clutch all the way. Understand the concern... it definitely would be easier to get in the car if the seat went back farther as you'd guess, but I'd have to bring it up some to operate the pedals.
Drivers seat is restricted by roll cage. How much leg room is available, ie how tall a person can comfortably work the pedals with seat all the way back?

All - I had a request for service docs/renovation pics. Pics that I have are added at bottom of photos. The service docs from original body reno (2014) and engine reno (2020-2023) are added as an attachment to make it easier to review chronologically. The attachment is located below the videos and above the comments. Please let me know if you have any questions.
@dpma All the service docs I have are uploaded and should be available soon. They go chronologically from 2014 to present. The 2014 Art Car docs were mostly body work/roll bar/addition of seats/etc.... Docs from 2020 to 2023 were engine rebuild/trans/suspension/etc... Pics include a few from the body restoration and a couple from the engine rebuild.

@rikhumps Seats do slide forward and back - in pics the drivers seat is back as far as possible.
Can you post receipts, service records, photos of restoration work, etc.? Thank you.
