The Land Cruiser FJ25 represents one of the earliest chapters in Toyota’s legendary off-road lineage. This 1960 example underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2018, during which it was refinished in green. Originally sold to a buyer in Southeast Asia, where right-hand drive is the legal standard, an extensive worldwide search for a right-hand steering conversion proved unsuccessful, prompting the vehicle’s return to the United States—after two transoceanic voyages totaling over 20k miles. Acquired by the seller in 2022, the truck has accumulated only 32 kilometers (approximately 20 miles) since the restoration. Carefully stored indoors, this beautifully restored FJ25 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
This FJ25 was refinished in green as part of its body-off restoration in 2018 and comes equipped with a flat windshield with dual top-mounted wipers, body-color front bumper and rear bumperette, squared-off wheel arches, a single rearview mirror, and a tan canvas soft top with plastic windows. It rides on body-color 15” steel wheels wrapped in 7.00×15 Lima Caucho Super J95P tires, with a matching spare mounted on the passenger-side rear quarter panel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features a front bench and inward-facing rear jump seats upholstered in orange vinyl, complemented by body-color metal surfaces throughout. The dashboard houses original gauges for speed, fuel level, temperature, oil pressure, and charging, along with factory-style controls for the lights, wipers, choke, and heater. Additional features include a three-spoke steering wheel, dual floor-mounted shifters with leather boot covers, a glove box, and rubber floor mats.
Power is provided by a 3.9-liter Type F inline-six engine, which drives all four wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed transfer case. It has manual locking hubs, while the suspension system comprises solid axles with semi-elliptical leaf springs. In preparation for road use after extended storage, the brake hydraulics were serviced in 2024 using OEM components.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, an original factory car jack, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “The 1st Generation of Toyota Land Cruisers appeared in the late 1950s with the updated F Series engine, 3.9 Liter 6 cylinder, 4WD with 4-speed manual transmission. The Museum quality FJ25 offered here underwent a body-off restoration around 2018 and was sunsequently sold to a buyer in S.E.Asia Many countries in that area of the world are Right Hand Drive (RHD) Left drive vehicles are not allowed on the highways. The option was to convert the steering from left to right drive. After an extensive world wide search for a right hand steering box proved to be impossible it was decided to ship the FJ back to USA. After 2 trips across the oceans totaling over 20,000 miles we acquired the Toyota in 2022 still in its restored condition. Currently having covered only 32 miles since restoration. As a result of lack of use over there preceding years some brake hydraulics were required using OEM wherever possible, and place the Land Cruiser in Road Ready order. Since restoration the FJ has been stored inside and has not been exposed to any inclement weather conditions. This rare vehicle would make perfect addition to any collection of Classic Automobiles. Come complete with small tools kit and original jack.”
