Designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company and produced at the MG factory in Abingdon, England, the Austin-Healy Sprite is a lightweight, compact, open-top sports car affectionately known as the “bugeye” for its distinctive headlamp design. This 1960 Mark I example was previously restored and comes finished in Old English White over a red leather interior. It derives power from an upgraded 1,275cc engine and features a ribbed case transmission, front disc brakes, and removable side curtain windows. This classic British sports car is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
The Sprite features a unitary construction with a hinged single-piece nose comprising the hood, fenders, and front fascia. Details include round fixed-position headlights, dual chrome mirrors, chrome rear bumpers, a polished windscreen frame, and a folding black convertible top with a matching tonneau cover and removable side curtains. The seller notes the car was refinished in Old English White during a restoration that was completed just over 3k miles ago. It rides on 13” steel wheels with chrome “AH” branded hubcaps and Ironman GR906 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The restored interior is lined with red carpeting and matching leather upholstery on the dashboard and seats. Details include contrasting white seat piping, a body-colored shifter surround and door frames, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, and analog Smiths instrument dials.
Power comes from an upgraded 1,275cc A-Series inline-four engine derived from a Mark IV Sprite. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed ribbed-case manual gearbox. The front end includes disc brakes and independent suspension.
This sale will include a clean title, side curtains, and a tonneau cover.

@CarCollector48 I have known this car for about 5 years. I don't know the prior history. I original bought this car off of a gentleman than won it in a raffle and just recently bought it back from a gentleman that I sold it to about 5 years ago.
@ Seller How long has your Dealership owned it? Was the vehicle from California?

@ Seller - How long have you owned it?
What a shame....someone sure did a poor job of body and paint prep. Still a very nice BugEye that will need a little help before the "tin worm" fully takes over.
