Introduced at the 1957 Turin Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo 2000 replaced the outgoing 1900 and featured an enlarged 2.0-liter engine along with updated styling. This 1960 Spider version is finished in red and came from the factory producing more power than its Berlina four-door counterpart. Said to have undergone a complete restoration that was finished in 2017 and a recent service in March 2023, this Spider is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Mexico.

This Spider was refinished in red as part of its restoration and has a black soft top. It rides on 16" wire wheels dressed in Michelin Pilote X tires from 2017. External design cues include the legendary triangle-shaped Alfa Romeo front intake, a front hood scoop, chrome bumpers, chrome accents that run along the sides of the body, and a polished single exhaust outlet. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior was reupholstered in black as part of the restoration and features a floor-mounted shifter, a red-painted dash-mounted rearview mirror, roll-up windows, and a three-spoke steering wheel. The seller notes that the gauges, electronics, and accessories work periodically.

This Spider is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that was factory-rated at 113 HP with a top speed of 110 MPH. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the gearbox makes noise when the car is cold, but otherwise works well. It is equipped with an independent double-wishbone front suspension, a solid rear axle, and hydraulic drum brakes. Additionally, a recent service is said to have been completed in March 2023.

This sale will include a registration.

The seller would like you to know: "Thank you for visiting my auction. Please let me know if you have any questions. This car is being sold with a Mexican registration, and the winner will need to pay an import tax to bring it into the US."

@dlc just one gauge wasn’t working. It works now.

  • DLC (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@Goulash16 but gauges and and ancillary items work periodically? Hmmmmmm

  • Goulash16 1 year, 5 monthsago

@DLC I have seen the car in person. One of the most beautiful Alfa Romeo’s 2000 out there definitely. I know Pipo Villa for a long time and I saw the process of restoration of this one. It was restored for sure.

  • DLC (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

I'll pass.............I don't have any faith that the car was truly restored..............engine, suspension, etc. Good luck with your auction...................gouges or gauges be damned

  • Maggio.1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@DLC I have a beautiful car, restoration was done six years ago with original gouges because the last owner wanted that way, do you want to come and see the car you’re more than invited. I’m sorry about my doctor comment. The car was restored to the best standards.

  • DLC (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

    swell.................

  • Maggio.1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@DLC come and see the car. I pay for your airplane ticket.

  • DLC (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

no you weren't................suggesting I go see a doctor...............this car shouldn't be described as a complete restoration. It clearly is not.

  • Maggio.1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@DLC I was answering the same way as your questions.

To answer your original question. Gauges are the originals. Not restored or new one.

  • DLC (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Hey PC market..............I think you should look again at the comments made by the seller. I was asking legit questions about whether the car was truly restored and the seller got snarky................

  • PCARMARKET 1 year, 5 monthsago

folks comments should be made in a tactful way with respect for all involved. We will disable accounts, including the seller if this is not adhered to. This should be an open, transparent and safe environment to sell the vehicle where we all have a mutual respect.

@justdiggin thank you for your comment, hope someone can get a story like yours this time.
We still have a lot of amazing cars here in Mexico.
This is a great car!!! Thank you for the good wishes

  • justdiggin (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

    Nice car!
I bought a 2600 spider in mexico, but i took delivery in el paso. Of course, that was 31 years ago.
I don't know how it all works now, but 'way back then', the seller brought it into el paso where i picked it up without a glitch.
I can only imagine how many cool cars are still being enjoyed (and or are sitting?) in mexico and beyond into central and south amarica!
Best wishes to seller and the new owner - this looks like a great car...

Any help and/or AID about shipping it to US?
Could you SCAN and POST images from current TITLE & REGISTRATION?
Would you happen to know the shipping expense to the TJ/\SD border?

  • Maggio.1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

    @Ram3k thank you for asking.

Pipo Villa was the one in charge of the restoration. His work is very respected and know here in the Mexico car scene.

I can definitely talk to him on Monday to make a list and records of the restoration.

  • Ram3k (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@Maggio.1 - who did the restoration and do you have documentation of the restoration ?
    Thx and GLWTA
