We are pleased to present this 1959 Porsche 356A Coupe finished in Ruby Red over a tan leatherette interior. Purchased by the current owner 48 years ago, this 356 is said to have undergone a complete bare metal restoration along with a rebuilt, numbers matching engine. It is now being offered in excellent condition with all with proper documentation and factory parts, making it a stand out among others on the market.
In 2019, this 356 is said to have had a complete bare metal refinishing in its factory color of Ruby Red. Additionally, all brightwork and seals have been refreshed and the car is said to show excellent. The seller also notes that bumper guards have been added without the overrides. This 356 rides on a set of factory ventilated steel wheels with Baby Moon hubcaps that wear all-season Radial tires.
Inside, you will find a completely restored leatherette interior, showing to be in exceptional condition. The seller notes that the interior was completely reconditioned in 2019 with tan leatherette, featuring recovered seats, new carpeting, a new headliner, and a recovered dashboard. All other surfaces were also addressed including the Ivory two-spoke steering wheel and VDO gauges which were rebuilt by North Hollywood Speedometer.
This 356 carries its original flat 4-cylinder engine which has been rebored to a larger displacement of 1.7 liters to accommodate the upgraded 86mm pistons and new cylinders. Additionally, the cylinder heads and dual Zenith carburetors were rebuilt with the installation of a brand-new camshaft, oil pump and fuel tank. The crankshaft and connecting rods were also refinished during this time. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a numbers-matching 4-speed manual transmission that features a resurfaced flywheel and a new clutch assembly. This 356 is said to be in excellent running condition and will be accompanied by records of the work performed. This example is said to be equipped with a 356B pan and vented drum brakes.
The sale will also include two keys, tools, a spare tire and jack, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records and a clear title.

@Lagonda if you are talking about the bumpers, the previous owner must have liked the Euro bumpers better. I have to agree.
@Lagonda @Lagonda, there have been less than 200 miles put on the car since the engine was rebuilt
Miles on engine since rebuilt?
Bid in the amount of $26,000
Why were overrides omitted?
Hello,
A wonderful example and a true credit to the owner, I have sent a message to the seller regarding transaction with an overseas buyer
Cheers
@ppalmer @ppalmer, I am told they are correct replicas, not original.

@39Lagonda @39Lagonda, current owner has had the car for 48 years and has never replaced the pan. So, it was either built with a B pan (due to the late production) or it was installed prior to 1972.
why the B floor?
Bid in the amount of $10,000
@Longstreth @Longstreth, the owner has his own, in-house techs who specialize in high end euro cars including Porsche. They did the rebuild and he pays them a salary, but he estimates parts, machine shop and labor at around $8,000. All parts receipts are available upon request.
What a superb example. Can you tell me about how much was spent on the complete engine rebuild ? Thank you
