This 1959 Porsche 356A was originally delivered in Colorado on April 30, 1959. Built by Reutter as a Cabriolet, it has since undergone a bare-metal refinish in black over a refurbished red leather interior and has been upgraded with a genuine Porsche hardtop and a custom 1,700cc flat-four engine. Acquired by the current owner in September 1987, this 356A is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of Colorado.

Originally finished in Silver Metallic with a black soft top, this example was stripped to bare metal and refinished in black. The seller notes that a genuine Porsche hardtop has been permanently fitted, while the U.S.-market bumpers have been removed and custom side mirrors installed. Additional modifications include black exterior trim, a side-exit exhaust outlet, and lowered suspension. It rides on polished 15” wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps and Michelin Defender tires from 2014. A collection of images is provided in the gallery.

The cabin was factory specified in red leather and has been updated with aftermarket seats and a matching leather-wrapped four-spoke Lecarra steering wheel. Audio is handled by a Sony cassette radio. Additional features include VDO instrumentation, a black-painted dashboard, red carpeting, and chrome accents throughout.

Power comes from a 1957 Porsche 356–sourced air-cooled flat-four engine, modified to 1,720 cc and equipped with dual Weber carburetors. The engine was reportedly rebuilt in 2019, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission.

This sale will include a clean title, a Kardex, owner’s manuals, and a spare tire.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a rare 356A with great documentation. The restoration was of an outlaw-type build, keeping much of the car's originality. It was purchased new in Colorado as well, according to the Kardex.”
