Equipped with an air-cooled 1.8-liter engine, this 1959 Porsche replica is based upon a Volkswagen chassis and features replica fiberglass bodywork of the iconic 356 Speedster. It comes finished in Ivory over the brown interior with tan bucket seats and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas having undergone a fresh full service.
The fiberglass replica bodywork is finished in the vintage Porsche color of Ivory and features matching bumpers, gold Speedster badging, and a retractable brown soft top with a tan tonneau cover. This Speedster rides on 15” slotted chrome wheels with Porsche crested hubcaps and Nexen tires. Some minor imperfections are present throughout the exterior and the seller notes the car had been with its previous owner for 8 years prior to their acquisition in December 2022.
The cabin is lined with brown square weave carpeting and features a pair of tan bucket seats with matching door panels. Accessories include a three-spoke banjo-style steering wheel, a painted dashboard, analog 356-style instrumentation, and speakers mounted in the door panels.
The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual gearbox paired with an air-cooled 1.8-liter flat-four engine. The seller states a full service was recently completed by a dealership and has provided images of the undercarriage for reference in the photo gallery.
This sale will include a clean title.

@reallygoodband I believe the car to be produced by Vintage Speedsters of California. I reached out to them with the VIN # to see what info I can gather. Will post any response received. I bought from a dealer in Santa Barbara California - not sure how many owners Thanks

Great to see the seat belts. Thanks!!
@Flyman615 There are belts - were tucked away in earlier photos. Posted picture of them. Thanks

Are there no seat belts? That would lead to a state safety inspection disqualification for registration.
@Flyman615 Brakes are Disc front - drum rear. Thanks
Are the brakes Disc/Drums (F/R) or all Drums? Thanks!
@Bruce914 I am a private party. I bought the car and shortly after that I came up on the waitlist for the new mid engine C8 Corvette. Had been waiting for this car for a long time. I am afraid I have to sell a few items to pay for the C8. The title on the Speedster reads 1959 Volk 356. Thanks
Curious why selling after a month? Says private seller so not a dealer. What is it registered as, ie... 63 VW, etc.....
@Flyman615 No worries about questions. I posted the VIN picture. Also mentioned I have contacted whom I believe built this car - will pass along any new news.

@Flyman615 I bought from a dealer out of California who told me his service department goes through their cars before sale. I did not get a receipt of such. The car runs strong and starts right up. I believe the ar to be produced by Vintage Speedsters of California. I reached out to them with the VIN # to see what info I can gather. Will post any response received.
@Flyman615 The car came with the door speakers but the previous owner may have kept the deck.
I'm sincerely interested in this car..please tolerate my questions!
Does the car have constructor/manufacturer/registration/ID number tags. If so, please post photos. Thanks!
Do you have receipts for the recent "full service"? If so, please post photos of them. Thanks!
I see speakers in the doors but no radio. Why is this? Thanks!
@Flyman615 I am not sure of the actual milage. The dealer I bought the car from stated that the previous owner in California had it 8 years. I am not a VW guy so unaware of horsepower. It is a 1.8l Four cylinder Thanks
@doctorbozo The car has a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder VW motor with the 4 speed manual.
Is 61K the true mileage? Seems very high for a replica. Do you know the approximate horsepower? Thanks!
Bid in the amount of $5,356
Do you know the type of engine and transmission?
@kfee I am not sure of the date of production. I believe the car to be produced by Vintage Speedsters in California. They began making replica 356 Porsches in the late 80's. The title lists a weight of 1600 lbs. The car just has the soft top - I do not have side windows. Thank you
Do you know the year of production? What is the total weight? Are the side windows glass or plastic? Thank you in advance
