Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Porsche produced a range of diesel tractors, capitalizing on their reputation for reliable and high-quality engineering. Cherished by vintage tractor enthusiasts, the Porsche-Diesel Super 308 tractor was introduced in 1957 and remained in production until 1963. Equipped with an air-cooled three-cylinder diesel engine, Bosch mechanical fuel injection, and power take-off output shafts, this 1958 308 L example underwent refurbishment prior to the owner’s acquisition in January 2024, as work included a refinish in red and a mechanical overhaul. This Porsche-Diesel tractor is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of Pennsylvania accompanied by a Sheffield Sportlume QL1 watch.
Subject to restoration by the previous owner, this long-wheelbase 308 was refinished in its proper bright red color complemented by light yellow accents. Equipment includes a rear-hinged bonnet, Porsche-Diesel badging, headlights and taillights, rear marker lights, rear half fenders, low-exit exhaust, and six-lug wheels with 14.9-24″ Akuret R-1 rear agricultural tires and 20″ front tires. The seller notes that this classic tractor participated in a race at the 2023 Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, driven by Porsche Penske driver Nick Tandy. A four-spoke steering wheel frames an instrument panel and is positioned in front of the spring-suspended operator’s seat, which is covered in light yellow vinyl with red piping. Additionally, a jump seat is mounted on the left fender. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Power is provided by an air-cooled 2,467cc three-cylinder diesel engine featuring Bosch mechanical fuel injection, reportedly restored under previous ownership. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transaxle and portal axles. Other performance features consist of front and rear power take-off output shafts along with independent rear drum brakes.
This tractor is offered with a bill of sale and a Sheffield Sportlume QL1 watch.
