Originally built in 1958 with Cabriolet bodywork by Reutter, this Porsche 356A 1600 was treated to an extensive restoration by its prior and current owners beginning in 2018 at a cost of over $225k. It comes finished in historic Meissen Blue over a new black leather interior and features an upgraded 1.6-liter Porsche 912 engine, Wilwood disc brakes, Koni shocks, a 12-volt electrical system, LED taillights, and more. This uncompromisingly refurbished 356A has been with the current owner since 2022 and is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
During its restoration, this 356A was refinished in the classic Porsche color of Meissen Blue, a period-correct pastel shade that was originally offered between 1957 and 1959. The Reutter bodywork has been fitted with new weatherstripping, LED taillights, a new grille, and new headlights along with a black soft top and matching boot cover. The chrome bumpers and brightwork were also refurbished during the restoration. The seller notes the car was repainted from its original Ivory color by German Auto World Service of Delray Beach, Florida. It rides on polished 15” wheels with Porsche-crested Super hubcaps and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.
The cabin is lined with new German square weave carpeting and black leather upholstery complemented by a reproduction VDM wood steering wheel and Coco floor mats. Other accessories include a lockable glove box, lap belts, an analog clock, a 120-MPH speedometer, a 6,800-RPM redline tachometer, and a combination auxiliary gauge. The seller adds that the original ivory-colored steering wheel accompanies the car.
Power comes from a replacement 1.6-liter flat-four engine which was sourced from a Porsche 912 and overhauled by German Auto World Service including new pistons and cylinders, a fuel tank and fuel pump, oil cooler, starter, generator, pulley, bearings, seals, and gaskets. The motor also includes new heat exchangers and an upgraded stainless-steel sport muffler. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual gearbox that was rebuilt with a new clutch, flywheel, bearings, and synchros. Stopping power has been improved with Wilwood front brakes featuring cross-drilled rotors and four-piston calipers. Other restoration items included a rebuilt steering box, new Koni shock absorbers, a dual master brake cylinder, new brake lines, torsion bars, bushings, and sway bars. Approximately 6k miles have been driven since the restoration and service under the current ownership has included new front wheel bearings and an alignment at German Excellence of Orlando FL.
This sale will include reproduction owner’s manuals, a jack, service records, a Porsche Production Specifications Certificate, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Amazing color and original look on top, with mild outlaw underneath the skin. Driven regularly and reliably on sunny days to coffee shops and an absolute showstopper at our Cars and Chai events. The replacement engine provides great horsepower and scoot, with disc brakes and handling to match. Unfortunately selling because of relocation to Manhattan NYC with no garage space.”

@soe3 No paint bubbling at all. Chips: One small chip on bumper near bumper guard, but none on front or hood. Provided some closeups to help show the incredible paint finish and work done by prior owner (over $225k invested in original solid car, mechanicals and cosmetics). See 24 ands 16 for example .... On pic 14, there is a small paint crack on rear bonnet ... someone pressing too hard on it to close perhaps? It took me a while to notice this, so it is not too distinct or jarring, but did photograph.

@artichoke Total mileage on rebuild estimated to be 5,600 mi. Details and receipts provided on engine - 912, including carb mods for additional hp. Car pulls really strong, scoots and great upgrade from stock. Starts up like a champ every time. Repairs I would make: Mech: Very minor oil leak that should be sealed. When braking slowly, like coming up to a red light, slight shimmy from Wilwood brakes. Cosmetic: Cab top, inner liner needs to be secured.
How many miles on the engine. Any engine modifications or upgrades? Any repairs required?
Welcome the auction of my 356 Cab and good luck bidding. I am a private seller. Happy to answer any questions and provide additional photos or details as needed.
