As a tribute to one of Porsche’s most iconic sports cars, this 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster Replica was originally assembled on a Volkswagen chassis from a Classic Motor Carriages kit in 1984. Acquired by the seller from Beverly Hills Car Club in late 2024, it has since received over $8k in mechanical and cosmetic work, including service to the brakes, suspension, steering, transmission, and engine. Finished in red over a black interior, it is powered by a 1776cc dual-carbureted flat-four paired with a Freeway Flyer 4-speed manual transmission. It features front disc brakes, a black soft top, a tonneau cover, 15” steel wheels, an aftermarket Boss amplifier with Bluetooth and Audiofrog speakers, and more. This well-equipped 356 Speedster replica is now offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in red and features low-cut doors, rounded fenders, and a raked windshield. Exterior details include body-color bumpers with chrome trim strips, Hella headlights with polished rings, refreshed taillights, period-style badging, and new side mirrors, door handles, hood pull, and rear emblem. It rides on 15” steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and wrapped in TBB tires mounted in December 2024. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior is trimmed in black with vinyl low-back bucket seats, a rear bench pad, and matching carpeting. A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts a red dashboard with white-faced instrumentation including a tachometer, speedometer, oil pressure, oil temperature, fuel level, and amperage gauges. Additional features include a wood shift knob, polished pedal covers, and CruZin side windows. An aftermarket Boss amplifier with Bluetooth and Audiofrog speakers has been installed.
The 1776cc air-cooled Volkswagen flat-four is equipped with dual Weber carburetors, EMPI air cleaners, and a stainless exhaust system. Recent service included a full engine reseal with a gasket set, stainless steel pushrod tubes, stainless J-tubes, a new ignition coil, spark plugs, distributor cap, power/ground straps, and a starter heat shield. The Freeway Flyer 4-speed manual transmission received an EMPI clutch kit with Sachs-style throw-out bearing conversion, new mounts, and a replacement starter. The brakes consist of a front disc conversion with new rotors, calipers, and pads, along with refreshed rear drums, new hardware, a master cylinder, hoses, and fluid. Suspension and steering components replaced include shocks, trailing arms with ball joints, tie rods, and the steering damper. Additional replacements include horns, the battery box, and wiring straps.
