An homage to one of Porsche’s most iconic sports cars, this 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster replica is said to have been built by Classic Motor Carriages of Miami Florida. It comes finished in pale yellow over a black interior and is powered by an air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four engine mated to a 4-speed manual transaxle. The car features 15” chrome steel wheels, Speedster-style bucket seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, speakers, leather hood straps, yellow-tinted driving lights, front disc brakes, and a Weber carburetor. Acquired by the seller about two years ago, this 356 Speedster replica is now being offered for auction out of California.
Mounted to a Volkswagen chassis, the yellow-painted fiberglass body is decorated with chrome trim, dual chrome mirrors, body-colored bumpers, leather hood latches, front driving lights, teardrop taillights, and a single-grille decklid. The car features a retractable black soft top with removable side windows and a matching boot cover. It rides on a set of chrome 15” steel wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps and 165-series Kelly tires.
The black interior features a vinyl-covered dashboard, door panels, rear parcel shelf, and Speedster-style bucket seats. Accessories include a three-spoke Speedwell-style steering wheel, a T-handle shifter, a height-adjustable rearview mirror, a passenger grab handle, speakers, and VDO instrumentation.
Power comes from an air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four engine with dual-port heads, a generator charging system, and a Weber carburetor. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transaxle while stopping power is facilitated by disc brakes in front and drum brakes at the rear. The seller states the ignition wires, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, and intake boots were replaced by the previous owner.
This sale will include a clean Arizona title for a 1958 Porsche Speedster.
