We are pleased to present this one-of-a-kind 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster replica by Intermeccanica. Completed in 2016 following a year-long build process, this 356 replica was created as Intermeccanica’s first-ever widebody Speedster. In addition to its custom specifications, this example features the G50 5-speed manual gearbox and 3.6 L flat-six engine derived from a Porsche 964. With approximately 4k kilometers (2,500 miles) showing on the digital odometer, this incredibly unique Speedster is now being offered for auction out of Florida on behalf of its seller in Canada.
Comprised of handmade fiberglass bodywork over a custom steel frame, this Speedster is finished in Black and the paint is said to be in excellent condition throughout. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. Some noteworthy features include widebody fenders, chrome trim, headlight grilles, a beige tonneau cover, and nerf bars for the front and rear bumpers. This example rides on a set of one-off custom 18” deep-dish slotted wheels with chrome Porsche-crested hubcaps. It currently rides on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires with two new rear tires installed in 2020.
Inside, the cabin has been beautifully appointed with beige leather and matching square-weave carpeting. Other features include a wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel, a Porsche-crested wooden shift knob, green 356-style instrument dials, Coco floormats, and a custom sound system with Audison amplifiers and a period-style Blaupunkt radio. Air conditioning and heating are equipped, and all gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
Powering this Speedster is an air-cooled 3.6 L flat-six engine that was derived from a Porsche 964 along with a G50 5-speed manual transmission. Approximately 247 HP is sent to the rear wheels. SSI heat exchangers have also been installed along with upgraded brakes, and Bilstein struts. This 356 replica is said to be in good mechanical order with a recently replaced distributor cap and newly installed battery.
This sale will include a clear Ontario registration. A truly unique creation with the air-cooled heart of a Porsche 964, this custom 356 Speedster replica is not to be overlooked.

@Einm1 The shorter number is Intermeccanica's own ID number. The longer is the VIN for registration, etc.
VERY COOL CAR! I wanted to ask why the vin plate on the dash doesn't match the full vin plate elsewhere? The dash has a short IM13561 number but the other vin is the normal type vin.
To all interested parties, I apologize but it has been logistically impossible to make a video of the car running/driving. Please note that the car is secure at a residence in Florida and I am in Canada. I will absolutely assure the winning bidder that the car is in proper working/running order, sounds and drives incredibly and will undoubtedly bring the new owner much enjoyment for years to come. Please bid with confidence and I will answer any questions as the auction comes to a close. Thank you
@CCCltd No, absolutely not.
Bid in the amount of $61,000
Is there a video available?
This is a georgeous car-great build. Hard to put a number on what's it worth. With comm and export costs, prob around $65k now. Still a lot of car for the money and you can't put a price on the fun factor!
Bid in the amount of $60,000
@Speedsterjoe Is the chrome trim on the door panels rusting or corroded? Thx
Thanks for the bids! I've added some iPhone pics of the build and some pics with the top up. I hope that helps. It has to sell! Bid strong and it goes in your garage! Thanks!
@sculptedmetal I'm sorry I know none of these answers with certainty. The car is. currently set up and registered in Canada. Intermeccanica makes vehicles for the US so I can't imagine it being impossible but again I dont know US importing rules, etc.
@Wmkevin7 I dont know with certainty but I assume it would considering the engine/exhaust system are the same as a US 911.
@Wmkevin7 I'm sorry I'm unfamiliar with importing vehicles into the US.

Bid in the amount of $43,000
Very interesting and tempting build! I really would like to bid but there are some key questions to answer. How long has it been in US? Important to know because of registration process. Does it meet U.S. Federal motor vehicle safety standards or Canadian motor vehicle standards? Are you planning to ship back to Canada and then arrange with buyer for US entry, fees, etc. Or will it be the buyer's responsibility on all of this? Thanks
Do you know if the car will pass US emissions test?
Bid in the amount of $42,500
Do you have any idea what the costs would be to import to US?
Speedsterjoe ,
Thank You ?
@petrus2000 Yes the title is free and clear.
@petrus2000 The title is from Ontario, Canada.
@petrus2000 Also is the title clear ?
@ Speedsterjoe
is title from florida or canada ?
Bid in the amount of $41,000
@Jmag Unfortunately I can't provide any videos. I have no one to go and do it. All owners are in Canada unable to travel to Florida. Rest assured the car runs and drives as it should. It was just at Porsche Jacksonville for a battery and detail.
Any ETA on videos? Cold start, driving, etc?
I've added some pics that I took during the build and some of the top up. I hope that answers most of the questions. This vehicle has to sell this week. We are still a ways away from a deal but we are motivated to sell it this week so bid strong if you are serious! Thank you
@Loudoun_Prime Its titled as a 2016
@Speedsterjoe - does it indicate what year on the title? Cars 25 years or older in my state get special consideration for taxes.
@TheUnscented The AC does blow cold. It’s titled as an Intermec. More pics today. It’s a 964 rear suspension setup. Will try to provide pics of rear suspension. The car is in Florida and we’re stuck in Canada. Reason for the slow pics etc
@Wheedoggie I’m sorry for the delay. The fit of the cover is as you see it.
@Wheedoggie The canvas cover is in no way jacked up. I don’t know why you think it is. I’m not sure what else to say.
Would love to see pictures with the top up, please.
Bid in the amount of $40,000
I typically don't "get" the 356 but this thing looks amazing. I'm less concerned about the fit & finish than the guilt-free miles I'd pile on this car. To that end, will the seller confirm that the AC blows cold? How, precisely, does the DMV of Ontario describe this car on the title paperwork? Any photos with the top up? What is rear suspension set up? Thanks in advance.
Please take note of my comment and respond.. at the very least get some more pictures posted and a few Vids to help
@Wheedoggie an example of the really Poor Fit and Finish can be seen in picture # 35. Asks # 36. It’s a problem that you must speak to..
@Speedsterjoe The only cover shown ... the convertible top has a cover that is shown while it’s stowed ... sorry but this cover’s fit and finish looks Jacked Up ... it’s a problem
@Wheedoggie Which cover are you asking about?
Bid in the amount of $30,000
@Speedsterjoe You’re going to have to speak to the “ cover issue”
It certainly looks Jacked Up in its fit and finish ... seriously !
@Wheedoggie I'm afraid the buyer will be responsible for the import/registration. It's currently registered in Ontario, Canada.
@Speedsterjoe Could you please go into some detail what the new buyer will have to do in his home state (Texas is n my case). When this new purchase arrives and need to be :
1). Inspected
2) registered and sales tax paid ( new Texas Title and plates issued)
I’m a newbie that has no clue how it works when buying a Canadian Titled/Registered car.
To have and operate in Texas
Bid in the amount of $25,000
@MSQ It says "Intermec" on the registration.
@JJensen Under the dash. Easy access but hidden from site. The car actually has heated seats as well. I have requested the photog to go back and take more pics. I will post asap.
@AndyL215 No cracks in the fiberglass and no spider cracks in the paint. Intermeccanica has decades of experience making these body's. It really is in amazing condition inside and out.
Hello, where are the electric window switches and A/C controls located ? Can you send pics of the top and windows up ?
Any cracks in the fiber glass or spyder cracks in the paint ? With a wide body like this cracks around the wheel arches is common
What a cool car. Carpet doesn’t match the drapes. Who cares with that engine.
@Speedsterjoe What is this car Titled as?
Bid in the amount of $22,356
@hayleyodom Its located just outside of Jacksonville Florida
Bid in the amount of $22,000
I appreciate your patience with all the questions... I am in Florida.. where is it?
Did I see Jacksonville?
@burnrubr I will post the additional pics and videos as soon as I have them. We are still far from sell money though ?
@burnrubr You should be able to 'import' it even tho it has already landed in Florida, but this will be up to the buyer. Thank you
Lots of interest and lurkers here (I am) ready to pull the trigger but just waiting for some answers and videos to move on.
since it is registered in Canada and in order to do the paperwork properly does the car needs to go back to Canada and pass thru US Custom? Do you have the capability to register the car in Florida? thank you
@Speedsterjoe I actually just confirmed that the engine was rebuilt. The transmission was a refresh. I apologize for the confusion.
@jallgood1225 Wheels only rub on full lock (full turn). It's easily avoidable. It handles speed bumps fine slowly. I have requested a video of it running and will post it asap. Due to Covid I am unable to get to Florida so am relying on help from locals. Thank you for your patience.
It is well worth a trip if you are interested. The builder, Intermeccanica, has been around since 1959 and started in Italy. They make an incredible vehicle and this is one of the nicest examples they have ever produced. No expense was spared in the build. Thank you for your interest.
@Wheedoggie No, there was a puncture in one so both were replaced as recommended by Porsche.
@AndyL215 I have requested more pics with the top up etc. and will post asap. The tires will rub on full lock but it's easy to avoid. It handles speed bumps just fine (slowly).
@bhmohio I have requested more specific pics and. video of engine running and will post asap. Thank you
@hayleyodom The cover does fit quite snug behind the rear "seat". It looks like it isn't sitting properly in the pics. The top is manual, I have requested our photog take some pics with the top up and will post asap. Unfortunately due to covid I can't get to the car atm. Thank you for the understanding.
@Schwelk I am 6'3" and fit comfortably, even with the top up. I would say its slightly smaller than a 997 but is surprisingly spacious consider how small it looks. I hope that helps!
@lbpa18 I'm not certain what year and kms the engine is/has unfortunately. Both the engine and transmission were treated to a refresh, not a complete rebuild. There have been no issues with overheating in a humid Toronto, Canada or in Florida. If you are familiar with Intermeccanica, they wouldn't produce a vehicle that wasn't functioning as it should. I am requesting a video of start up and running and will post it asap.
@burnrubr Thank you! I am unsure of the exact weight unfortunately, I'm sorry. The HP is an estimate.
Do tires rub wheel wells?
Show video, both of the car running and moving PLUS
RIDING IN THE CAR.
If wheels don’t rub, I’ll fly in to see it.
Thanks.
James
Bid in the amount of $21,500
@AndyL215 my concern as well....were the rear tires replaced because rubbing or worse /cutting ?
Hi Gorgeous car. Can you please post a driving video and pictures of the top up. Also do the tires rub against the wheel wells ? It’s looks very very tight. Are the bumpers removable?
Great looking car. Any chance we can get a few videos? Cold start/ driving. Thanks
Beauty!
Can you please tell me about the convertible cover? It looks loose? Do you have any pictures with the top up?
Beautiful car. Can you tell us a bit about driver fit? How does driver seat compare to something like a 997? I am 6’-6”, but drive a 997.2 4S which is very comfortable for me. Can you tell me if this is similar in size of cockpit or if it is tighter due to the solid firewall behind the seat? Thanks.
Very aggressive look. A few questions: What year did the engine come from? How many miles were on the engine? It appears there is very little cooling air available for the fan to inhale (that would have been accommodated with the spoiler/airscoop of the 964). Has there been an alternate arrangement here? Same for the oil coolers. Does it have any issues with overheating? An video of the engine idling after doing so for ten minutes or so and an aggressive drive video would help show how the completed package performs as a whole. Thanks.
oh man what a beauty! what's the approximate wet weight of the car OP? and that 247 whp is verifiable by a dyno or just approximate? thanks
