Finished in a soft shade of yellow over tan vinyl upholstery, this 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster replica is said to have been completed in the early 2000s and cared for by a single owner until 2019. It features a widebody configuration along with bullet-style mirrors, polished 15” steel wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps, a Nardi steering wheel, and a 1,835cc flat-four with dual Weber carburetors. This Speedster replica is now being offered for auction out of California. Click here to view the previous PCARMARKET listing as the previous buyer failed to complete the transaction.

Presenting a widebody design, this Speedster replica comes finished in a shade of yellow complemented bv chrome trim. Details include bullet-style mirrors, teardrop taillights, gold-finished Porsche Speedster lettering, and a Leitz-style luggage rack that mounts a suitcase and vintage skis secured by leather straps. It rides on polished 15” steel wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps and BFGoodrich Touring tires from May 2018. The seller notes the front end was repaired after damage occurred in June 2006 and the front bumper and hood were refinished. Some paint chips are also noted on the hood, front bumper, and door jambs.

The cabin features tan low-back bucket seats with matching door panels and carpets complemented by a body-color dashboard. Equipment includes a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, a Kenwood CD stereo & speakers, and a Kicker 8” powered subwoofer placed behind the seats. All gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.

Power is derived from a 1,835cc flat-four engine with dual Weber carburetors and an EMPI electronic fuel pump. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission while stopping power is delivered through 4-wheel drum brakes. The seller notes damage to the Monza exhaust tips. A recent service is said to have been carried out, and a host of service documentation will accompany the sale.

This sale will include a clean title and service documentation.

The seller would like you to know: “I have owned the Speedster for the past 3 years and enjoyed every moment of it with my kids and the miles of smiles it has brought to our family. The previous owner was an elderly gentleman who owned it for over a decade and kept every single record/receipt in addition to writing stories of his journeys along the way. I have always properly maintained it and was always stored in my garage. To the next owner, this Speedster is turn-key and won't have to do anything to take it on its next adventure. Please feel free to reach out for a Pre-Purchase inspection or if you have any questions. Thank you”

@SoCal4me Hello and Good Morning, I believe it was a random picture at a car show/event that the previous owner liked?! On my phone it looks white but in person and on the computer it’s actually a soft yellow color. I was just trying to include everything in the folder the previous owner put together to paint a picture for everyone. Have a great weekend! 😁

  • SoCal4me (registered bidder) 1 monthago

I see a white car without a wide body, but it doesn't appear to be the same car...any thoughts on that? It could be confusing...

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 1 monthago

@Pm1177 I agree, it has been a very fun car to enjoy with car enthusiast at events and for a stroll up the coast. everyone has their own personal stories as it relates to 356's. Good Luck and welcome!

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 1 monthago

@SubRedTed Good Morning, I went through the receipts and don't see anything about the wide body kit. I do see a picture from 2007 and it was already done. I personally believe it was already wide-bodied by the previous owner. I did add some wheel spacers a couple years ago but they can easily be removed.

  • Pm1177 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Great car. Have always wanted one for my collection

  • SubRedTed (registered bidder) 1 monthago

I notice in one of the photos it doesn’t have the wide body kit. When were the wheel wells flared out? Do you know if it was done by a shop(maybe seen in the receipts) or was it done by a previous owner themselves?

@wonk Good Morning, that is a really good question and honestly can't answer that.
    - we are curious if Pcarmarket reached out to you and informed you the deal fell through with the highest bidder?

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 1 monthago

@Doctornocarguy Good Morning- thanks for coming back and giving a second look... Unfortunately the funds never came. I believe it was a spontaneous bid, and in my opinion he was looking for a different type of vehicle (Bentley, etc.).

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 1 monthago

@Chipper Yup, the market was different then and not sure if you saw the date it was approximately two (2) years ago! :)

  • wonk (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Usually if the high bidder goes MIA, Pcar calls the second highest bidder to see if they want to buy it. Did they also back out?

  • Doctornocarguy (registered bidder) 1 monthago

I bid on the last time ,why didn't the sale go thru?

  • Chipper (registered bidder) 1 monthago

The poor thing. It failed to sell on BAT too:(

  • SubRedTed 1 monthago

Bid in the amount of $606

  • PCARMARKET_MODERATOR 1 monthago

The listing has been updated to reflect the updated milage.

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 1 monthago

@fastdrvr Good Morning, yes unfortunately things never came to fruition!

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 1 monthago

@Signature954 Good Morning, you are correct it was technically sold last week with a "no reserve" however the funds never transpired. I encourage everyone interested to reach out with questions, see it in person, or schedule a test drive. Thank you!

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 1 monthago

@Lars-Of-D Good catch! The mileage from the previous listing was 13,383 and after doing the most recent driving videos (see above) the mileage now sits at 13,399 miles and will not be going up while the vehicle is listed.
can you please fix the mileage discrepancy. Mileage now reads 13,399 Miles.

  • CarCollector48 (seller) 1 monthago

    Good Morning Everyone,

Here we are (again) for round 2 and I know everyone is curious what happened the last go around... Unfortunately the highest bidder didn't come through with payment forcing me to list it again. There is nothing wrong with the vehicle and as mentioned before it is turn key ready to enjoy!

Please let me know if there is any questions, or you would like a Video Call to do a "live" walk-around of the car. I also encourage anyone interested to reach out personally and we can discuss the history of the car or make a time to see it in person. The vehicle is located in San Diego, California.

Good Luck to everyone and hopefully this 356 finds a good home.

  • fastdrvr (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Second the question from Signature954; same car - really weird... did the last buyer flake out?

  • Merlinst2 1 monthago

Bid in the amount of $356

  • Signature954 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Didnt this just sell for 20k?

  • Lars-Of-D 1 monthago

Why is the mileage lower now (13,335) vs the previous listing (13,383)?
