Created as an homage to one of Porsche’s most legendary historic race cars, this 550 Spyder Replica is reported to have been built by a Sports Car Club of America race car driver in Florida. This custom example comes finished in silver or red leather upholstery and features a 1,966cc Volkswagen flat-four engine, dual Weber carburetors, a flame-thrower ignition system, dual exhaust outlets, and slotted wide 5-lug steel wheels. Reportedly driven just under 300 miles since the build, this Spyder replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
This replica is finished in silver and features an iconic 550 Spyder silhouette with a red tonneau cover. Exterior details include a central hood-mounted fuel filler, an aerodynamic driver-side mirror, twin engine grilles, leather bonnet straps, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on 15” slotted wide 5-lug steel wheels dressed in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires from 2022. Some paint imperfections are notes including scratches on the deck lid. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cockpit features red leather-trimmed bucket seats, a 3-spoke steering wheel, lap belts, and 356-style instrumentation with green markings and chrome bezels. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This 550 Spyder replica is based on a 1967 Volkswagen tubular chassis/frame and is equipped with an air-cooled 1,966cc flat-four Volkswagen engine with dual Weber 36mm ICT carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Additional features include a flame-thrower ignition system, a hydraulic clutch master & slave cylinder kit, a cable shifter, axle boots, and KYB shocks. Stopping power is provided by front disc brakes and rear drums. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This 550 Spyder Replica was previously built and owned by an SCCA racecar driver in Florida. It shows the correct mileage in kilometers, and runs, drives, stops, and shifts as it should!”

@Ferry It has the retrofit disc kit that makes it look like old factory drum brakes.
The car just looks so authentic inside and out right down to the original Porsche Vin tag
@Ferry Disc front, drum rear
@Ferry let me confirm
Hi Seller. Are you sure there are disc braces in the front? Looks like drums. Thanks
@CarCollector48 that’s why I took it to pcar cause I had three people buy it and then nobody message to respond, Ebay is not the best selling platform lol
Yes, I buy, sell, collect. I just love cars.
It actually shows it sold on EBay, curious why the deal didn’t go through? Are you a Dealer? @Seller
@CarCollector48 I’ve had it for about a year, yea that was my car. I put it on eBay but I decided to send it to Pcarmarket instead.
@prmnorton1 And how long has it been in your possession? Less than 3 weeks? Saw a similar car on eBay a couple weeks back with a similar story, just curious if it’s the same car @ Seller
This motor is a 1966 cc or 2.0l and I think the beck used 1.6 I’m not sure.
I’ve had it for about a year
I was told the body is from the company called Beck and the gentleman in Florida finished the build. He was a racecar driver. It was a Florida title. It’s our Virginia title. Cars very well done runs and drives and shift. Great, lots of power.
Would agree. This is not a Beck. The rear shock hook up is completely different than any Beck I've encountered.
THIS IS NOT A BECK! Looks like it was built in Mexico possibly with a company called Silverstone. (www.silverstonemexico.com) @ Seller how long have you owned the car and what state is it titled in? Can you upload a picture of the Title.
Hi, can you show the beck badge? Dash doesn’t look right for a beck…

@Merlinst2 yeah It can be adjusted. when it sits and is not driving It’ll look a little bit higher but when you drive and accelerate it sits back down a little bit. I assume he did that on purpose
This 550 appears to ride very high in the back end. Was the rear suspension raised to provide clearance from the tires to the wheel wells? Can the rear suspension be adjusted back down to close the gap without creating "tire rub"?

@wingless yes, of course all the doors open like normal. The front trunk opens normally in the rear engine compartment opens normally I’ll have them post some pictures that’s good essentially be a daily driver no problem as long as it’s not raining
Sorry if these are dumb questions, do the doors open / close? Does the front trunk open / close? Can images please be posted of those in the open position?
@JJW007 also mainly they will go off of the Vin plate and the Vin tag on the car which clearly states 1957 Porsche 550 Spyder, everything on the car actually looks so authentic to a real 1957. It’s pretty cool.
@JJW007 oh that’s no problem. The car is title and registered as 1957 Porsche 550 Spyder so the build date isn’t significant, I’ve sent many to Canada like this, they just have to go off of the title and the registration. So you will have no issues
Thank You for your response, I need at least 15 year old builds, to enter into Canada, for these type cars. stupid rule!
@JJW007 I’m not actually sure, I checked with the previous owner and he said it was somewhere around 2010-2015
what is the actual build date?
