Created using the steel body of the 356A Cabriolet stripped of its trimmings, the Speedster features a lower-raked windscreen and roll-up side curtains in favor of glass windows. This example was imported new by the Hoffman company factory-finished in Signal Red and has reportedly undergone a full restoration to its original specifications. Equipment includes factory sealed-beam headlights, U.S. market bumpers, dual chrome mirrors, 15” slotted steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, and a tan convertible top with a matching tonneau cover and side curtains.

Replicating its original appearance, the cabin has been restored with new square weave carpeting and Beige leather upholstery covering the seats, upper dashboard, and door panels. The car was factory-equipped with optional Coupe seats and a set of matching Speedster seats is also included with the sale. Accessories include a white two-spoke steering wheel, a body-colored dashboard, black rubber floor mats, and analog VDO gauges.

Power comes from an original Type 616/1 1.6-liter flat-four engine that was reportedly rebuilt along with its numbers matching Type 644 4-speed manual gearbox during the restoration. The brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical systems were restored as well.

Is it possible to view the car?
Thanks
Beautiful car! I am trying to find information on the restoration but do not see that Shamrock Racing performs restorations. I have reached out to them but have not heard back yet. Could you please provide contact information for Brant Parsons?
Would sure love some interior pictures. Thank you.
Do you have more pictures of the wiring? Preferably the fuse distribution I would like to see the end of the connectors. In the engine bay. It looks like the wiring is not OEM period correct. They did not have heat shrink from the factory when the 356s were being produced. I’m interested in this vehicle I’m comparing it to a factory Restored 356 speedster that I have in my collection. If you could also provide photos of the carpet trim, that would be appreciated too. That will help with the authenticity of this restoration.
Hi Bidders!
This is a fantastic numbers matching speedster from a well known collection. It’s worth mentioning that it received a sympathetic restoration, as it was never a rotted out junk yard car. It was always a taken care of car in good working order. The interior had been changed to black at some point and coupe comfort seats were put to the side, as was the original gearbox. When it was acquired by Shamrock, Brant was instructed to return it to its correct original spec. Matching # gearbox was repaired and installed, interior was returned to correct tan, coupe seats in and speedster seats to the side, but redone at same time in tan. Brant was working on 356 when they were new, he prepared many cars for Peking to Paris, Lemans classic etc. the car is dialed in and ready to enjoy. Happy to answer any questions if bidders want to reach out directly.
