We are pleased to present this exciting 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster racecar.  Highlighting a custom built 1640cc engine assembled by legendary 356 technician Vic Skirmants, this veteran-racer has been outfitted with extensive performance upgrades and track-mandated safety equipment making it the perfect choice for a vintage motorsport enthusiast.  Easy to convert to street-legal specifications with a few minor adjustments, this outstanding 1957 example is now being offered for auction in excellent driving condition.

This 356 is finished in classic Silver Metallic with contrasting blue painted accents.  The seller notes that this example retains its original floor pans and body panels with the exception of the rear decklid.  This Speedster shows beautifully and is said to have been stored in a climate controlled environment when not in use.  Exterior features include widened fenders and factory 6x15” alloy silver spoke wheels with custom blue details.

Inside, this 356 sports a performance-oriented lightweight interior with a Recaro racing seat.  Safety features include a full roll cage and 6-point harness as well a fire suppression system.  This Speedster is fully equipped to take on SVRA, HSR, Monterey Historic, PCA Club Racing, or regular track days at your favorite course.  All necessary gauges and electrical components are reported to be fully functional.

This Speedster is equipped with a custom 356C derived 1640cc racing engine assembled in 1988 by prominent builder Vic Skirmants.  This updated power plant features high compression pistons, racing cams, polished heads and a full straight-pipe exhaust.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a race-configured 4-speed 356C transmission that was also assembled by Skirmants during the same time as the engine.  Improved C-series disc brakes have been installed along with torsion bars and stiffer aftermarket shocks.  The seller states that the car could be made street legal with a few adjustments including the removal of the roll cage and the addition of a passenger seat.  Having been diligently looked after and regularly serviced throughout its entire life, this Speedster remains in excellent ready-to-race condition.

Previously campaigned by Caranza racing of New Jersey, this Speedster is said to have been engaged in competitive motorsports since the late 1950’s.  In 1988, the current owner purchased the car from an Auto Week ad and would go on to race the car regularly until his retirement in 2014.

This sale of this 356 will include service records, a log book, documentation, one key, and a clean title.  Whether you’re a discerning air-cooled enthusiast or a seasoned racing driver looking for a competitive edge, this remarkable Speedster racecar represents an incredible bidding opportunity.

@Jet2jeff2 Hi jet2jeff2 The engine has about 20 hours since it's last rebuild. The original gas tank and gauges come with the car. To my knowledge it doesn't have a lot of bondo but I don't have any pictures. Chuck

How much bondo is under the very smooth beautiful paint? How many hours are on the engine since freshened?
Any parts come with it; like the original windshield, seats and such?
