Now up for auction is this 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Super Widebody replica by Vintage Speedsters. Beginning with a 1967 Volkswagen chassis, this eye-catching Speedster replica was hand-built by Vintage Speedsters featuring rare Super Widebody fenders and a 1915cc Type 1 VW engine paired with a 4-speed manual Freeway Flyer transmission. Finished off in Midnight Blue over a classic Beechwood interior, this replica was completed in September of 2017 and had been driven sparingly as part of a large collection before it was sold to its current owner on PCARMARKET in 2021. Currently showing under 3k miles on the odometer, this one-of-a-kind Super Widebody Speedster is being offered for auction out of Tennessee.
The bodywork is handcrafted from fiberglass and comes finished in Midnight Blue with optional Super Widebody fenders and a retractable Camel soft top including a full tonneau cover and matching side curtains. Other equipment includes dual aero side mirrors, teardrop taillights, rear Carrera script, mesh headlight covers, and custom-made 17” Fuchs-style polished wheels measuring 8” wide in the front and 10” wide in the rear. The seller notes a few small chips in the paint and reports a rear brake light was replaced during their ownership, additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cockpit is trimmed in Allante Beechwood leatherette with blue carpeting and a painted lower dashboard. Features include blue Porsche crested seatbelts, a short-throw shifter, a Nardi-style steering wheel, Porsche crested horn button, and Coco floormats. A modern Kenwood Bluetooth stereo is also installed discreetly beneath the dashboard.
The 1915cc Type 1 VW engine features a Bergman 911 engine fan shroud, an MSD 6AL ignition controller, dual 40mm IDF Weber carburetors, and a Vintage Speed stainless steel Sebring exhaust system. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual 3:88 Freeway Flyer transmission. Other mechanical features include front disc brakes, an electric fuel pump, a spin-off oil filter, an external oil cooler, and adjustable front and rear suspension. All available records are provided for reference in the gallery.
This sale will include service records and a clean title.

@Kuehl118 The windows you see are called CruZin windows. They are designed for top down cruising and help cut down on road noise and wind. I make them and they are available on my site.

Exciting final chance to win the bid on this stunning Car! Taken to car shows where people with very expensive exotic cars come to look and love. Very rare car build. Contacted Vintage a year ago when buying and their build time was over 1yr. Was so glad I found this and have had a year to enjoy it! This car also has a attachable cover that covers the inside. And the top is actually in the car, very easy to put up fast but I have not ever had it in the rain. Garage kept and also had a professional get any scratches and swirls out of the paint. No tears in top, upholstery. Fun to drive and enjoy this Spring and summer! I’ll be available for any additional questions you may have. Good luck!
Bid in the amount of $22,000
@Kuehl118 Great question! These are cruising windows…. There are other windows that go with the vehicle also that will conform to the top better.
as far as I can see the side windows are not water tight at all - as seem to be too small. Is this correct ? Are there other ones comming with the car which fit to the shape of the roof? Thanks for your reply - love your car ! Björn

@gkcrane Because it’s a replica, it’s titled as a 1967 Volkswagen.

Great car and seller! Seen the car in person and it’s stunning!
@Kuehl118 You would have to arrange and pay for shipping. I’ll make sure the car is available for your shipping company and help you coordinate.
Yes, Vintage made the vehicle.
Hey Sir,
vey nice wide body.
In case I bid and win - would it be possible to get your assistance to get the 356 shipped to Germany ? For my understanding : The super wide bidy was ordered and made by Vintage ?
Thank you !
Bjoern
@Wmkevin7 It's a beautiful car, glad to help.
Troy
@replicaspeedster.com thanks so much for your assistance!
@robmsales I'm the previous owner and I can tell you the wheels are the Chevy pattern.
@robmsales sure I’m at the lake this weekend so can try to do that for you Sunday if OK….
Bid in the amount of $10,000
Thanks for the phone update
Can you try to measure the lugs try center or the best way is the end of one lug and the other end of another lug- just get close and I can do the rest- I have the perfect set of turbo 18" rims and hoping to use them if I can win the car
Have a great evening Rob
@robmsales Yes that is for my phone its a magnet so you can easily attach a magnetic case there.
I dont know the type of wheel. I was told by the previous owner they were custom made for this car because of the wide body.
Hi WmKevin7
Great looking car-with my favorite color Midnight Blue-I have a 96 993 TT in that color
Question one- what is on the dash by the key switch- is that a phone holder?
My second question on the rims- what bolt pattern are they 5 x 130 like the Fuchs most of us have or had. Thanks for your time and help Rob
@dicksmith2436 Yes! I’m 6’2” and 215lbs so plenty of room for me which is nice!
It has a 1915 cc engine so from what I research between 80-90horsepower. Slower on the start but very light and once you get going lots of fun on the curves!
Hey everyone!
Glad to help answer any questions on the car. Enjoyed and its a fun car that turns head’s everywhere you go!
Horsepower????
Beautiful car
widebody gives much better leg and foot room
