As a tribute to one of Porsche’s most iconic sports cars, this 1957 Porsche 356C Speedster widebody replica was produced by Classic Motor Carriages (CMC) and mounted on a Volkswagen chassis. Finished in black over a red vinyl interior, it is powered by a high-performance 2276cc air-cooled flat-four engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It features upgraded suspension and braking systems, along with a black soft top, LED headlights, a banjo-style steering wheel, VDO gauges, a RetroSound radio, and much more. This well-sorted Speedster replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois.

The wide fiberglass bodywork is finished in black and complemented by body-colored bumpers and a removable black soft top. Exterior details include dual side mirrors, side curtains, gold-finished “Porsche” and “Super 90” badging, a reproduction Drauz coachbuilder badge on the right front fender, European-style taillight lenses, LED headlights with fluted lenses, and amber driving lamps. It rides on black-finished 15” steel wheels with dome-style chrome hubcaps, wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tires bearing 2022 date codes. The seller notes a touched-up paint chip on the hood. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the cabin is appointed with fixed-back bucket seats upholstered in red vinyl, complemented by a matching dashboard, door panels, red leather shift and brake boots, and black carpeting. Additional features include red and black coco floor mats, EMPI-style door pulls, lap belts, a roller-style accelerator pedal, and a RetroSound radio with ivory-colored knobs. A banjo-style ivory steering wheel fronts a set of VDO gauges including a 150-mph speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure gauge, combination fuel and temperature gauge, and an analog clock. All interior electronics and accessories are reported to be fully functional. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order with no warning lights illuminated.

Power comes from a high-performance 2276cc air-cooled flat-four engine built by JCS Volks Masters of Azusa, California, and installed in May 2023. It utilizes a refurbished German case, free-flow oiling system, 82mm crankshaft, 94mm pistons, 5.4" I-beam connecting rods, 042 cylinder heads with 40mm intake and 35.5mm exhaust valves, a chromoly lightweight flywheel, dual Dell'Orto DRLA carburetors, CB Performance Magnaspark distributor, and MSD ignition components. The engine bay has been custom powder coated. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission that features an aluminum side cover and padded front axle support. Performance is further enhanced by an upgraded adjustable front axle beam, larger sway bars front and rear, a 5-lug four-wheel disc brake conversion, and a Monza-style four-tip exhaust system with J-tubes.

This sale will include a removable soft top, side curtains, and a clean title (lien).

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have recently retired and I own too many cars for my wife and myself and not enough room in the garage. It is also rarely driven. The car is a high quality build and very beautiful. It gets much attention from admirers who roll down their windows, give me a thumbs up and ask what it is. I will miss it greatly and wish the new owner enjoys it as much as I have!”

0bviously a labor of love and very well done indeed!
Just wish I had another two months so that I can finish my old 2002, then dispose of my '02 parts car and then add this one. It's such a beauty I would then have to erect a proper shelter for it. Help! LOL!

What a beautiful car! I would love to own one of these. I take my wife to car shows and this seems to be the only car she swoons about. The red interior is fantastic as well. With this motor, do you have any idea what type of power is achieved? GLWTA!!! I'm a fan of this one!
