A high-quality recreation of Porsche’s iconic 356A Speedster, this Beck replica was built in 2007 by Open Road Motors of Campbell, California. It derives power from an air-cooled 1,915cc engine and wears a Merlot exterior finish over tan leather upholstery. It remained with the original owner for 7 years while covering just under 8,500 kilometers before changing hands and eventually being registered in the state of Washington by its third owner in November of 2020. Treated to considerable service over the past year, this Speedster shows just under 13k kilometers (8k miles) and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Idaho.

The handmade fiberglass bodywork is finished in a Merlot red paint color and features Porsche Speedster ornamentation as well as a tan convertible top and tonneau cover.  Other details include a chrome central exhaust outlet, Mobil Pegasus fender decals, a chrome driver’s side mirror, and chrome 15” wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps and Kumho Power Star tires from 2007. A set of additional hubcaps is said to accompany the sale along with custom top-down CruZin windows. Clear paint protection film has been applied to the hood and front fenders, and the seller notes some minor blemishes at the rear edge of the front bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, tan leather upholstery extends from the bucket seats to the dashboard and door panels. The cabin is lined with matching square weave carpeting and custom Coco floor mats. Accessories include a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, a wooden Nardi shift knob, a central analog clock, rally stopwatches, and a dual-port USB connector mounted below the dashboard. All gauges and accessories are said to work properly, although the seller notes the trip odometer only registers distance in tenths.

An air-cooled 1,915cc flat-four engine drives the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission with a 3.88 gear ratio. Included service records show a tune-up completed in November of 2020 as well as new rear brake cylinders, a new shift coupler, and a polished aluminum valve cover set installed in April of 2021. Other maintenance includes rebuilt Weber carburetors and new fuel filters in May 2021, new spark plugs in February 2022, a wheel alignment in April 2022, and most recently a rebuilt right-side carburetor in July of 2022. Correspoinding invoices are provided for reference in the gallery.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, some service records, a spare tire, and a car cover.

One day to go. I will be checking in periodically to answer any questions you may have. Here is a quote from the Beck Special Edition web page regarding the benefits of the tubular chassis vs the VW.

The Beck products are factory built replicas, constructed to the highest standards. Our world class fit and finish have made us an industry leader since the early 1980's.

BORN a Beck, not a VW Beetle

The Beck Speedster and Spyder are built using a  3" DOM tubular chassis.

Several IMPORTANT benefits are derived from incorporating a "purpose built" chassis into our products. These include: retaining the original cars' spacious foot well areas (not crowded toward the center as in the VW bellypan version), a great improvement in torsional rigidity, and much better handling with a more solid feel.

Check out our "Jack Test" .

@912rich please familiarize yourself with our terms. What you did here is not permitted. If a seller is willing to entertain a partial trade plus cash for an agreed trade amount you would then have to bid and if the winner can trade the car plus cash to equal the winning bid price. Simply asking a seller to trade cars can railroad an auction and we cannot allow that.

  • 912rich (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@928GTS happy hunting and if you have questions about them I would like to help you out with it. Cheers Richard

  • 928GTS (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@912rich disc front drum rear. Sorry but I don't know the shock type. The 968 is tempting but right now I have my eye on a, get ready, a 1969 912.

  • 912rich (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Are the brakes drum, and what types of shocks are on it? The 968 cab has 40,665 miles on it.,and is 100% factory stock. Perfect book end for the 928

  • 912rich (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Yes I am a 912 owner a 69 it has won the Porsche Sponsored award and 2 best of class at Werks.I am very proud of him .

  • 928GTS (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

FYI, the keys shown in photo 134 are 2 ignition and 1 locking gas cap key.

  • 928GTS (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@912rich thank you. Are you a 912 owner?

  • 928GTS (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@912rich I would definitely consider your offer, but, I already own a low mileage 928 GTS in excellent condition.

  • 928GTS (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

    @TyStav 4 lug pattern

  • 912rich (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

    Beautiful Beck

  • 912rich (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Beautiful Beck would you consider a possible opportunity to trade for a concurs 968? It took 1st place 2021 at Werks and 3rd 2020.Some thing to consider. Richard

  • TyStav (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@928GTS Are the rims 4 or 5 lug pattern under the hub caps?

  • 928GTS (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@mcgrath554 Thank you for the inquiry. This does not have a VW frame or pan. it's a Beck tubular frame chassis# 356000289.

  • mcgrath554 2 years, 3 monthsago

Was the frame from a previous VW or is this from a tubular frame made specifically for this car?

  • 928GTS (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

The far left switch on photo 65 is for fog lights should you wish to install them.

  • 928GTS (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago
