Originally introduced by Cushman Motor Works in the 1930s, the Cushman Scooter gained popularity during WWII for its practicality, adorability, and efficiency. In the 1950s and 1960s, Sears sold these scooters under the "Allstate" brand, offering them through catalogs and department stores. This 1957 Allstate Cushman Scooter was restored in 2011 by BC Productions in Brighton, Michigan. Driven approximately 38 miles and displayed in a showroom since the rebuild, this iconic piece of mid-century American design is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan.
This scooter was refinished in white as part of the restoration in 2011. At that time, the seats and lights were restored, decals were placed, and white wall Cushman tires were fitted. The compact, minimalist design is characterized by its rounded front fender and bulbous body. Details include side air vents, chrome trim, red accents, and dual exhaust outlets.
The single-cylinder air-cooled engine sends power to the rear wheel through an automatic transmission. Equipment includes a kick-start system, a carburetor, and front & rear drum brakes. A rebuild is said to have been performed in 2011, and the scooter has reportedly been driven approximately 38 miles since.
This sale will include a clean title and sales literature.

@vw4life no disappointment in the scooter
@Cheeseman8 I came to Pcar looking for a 996 and might end up with this! I am in Royal Oak
@ThomasKuun @vw4life7 Set a reminder - there is less than 6 hours left on this auction. Don't miss out on this beautiful scooter!
Bid in the amount of $750
I'm so glad you worked it out . Thank you for your consideration. It's been a pleasure talking with you. best of luck finding a perfect moped .
Thank you for your responses, but the more that I dig, the less interested I become. I am sure this was a wonderful scooter back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. But three quarters of a century later, I suspect it is more of a museum piece than a working scooter. And a fine museum piece you have presented for sale, but I am looking for a dependable moped rather than a museum piece. I will not be bidding higher than $250 and I wish you the best with your $500 bid from Thomas Kuun. Thanks again
Thank you for your questions trans. Commission is automatic.
Motor is Stock
Did not observe any rust
The white finish is beautiful
Just take a key that we have misplaced. We are trying to find it. Thank you for your questions. I've been very good. Hope this answers everything you need to know.
Thank you kindly for answering all my questions. I've done a little research on the 1957 Cushman scooter. Is this a two-speed model with two gears, or just one? How do you shift between gears if it has two?
The original engine was a 2 7/8 cu./in. 5 HP lawnmower engine. Have you made any changes to this? Oftentimes when the engine is rebuilt, it bored out to produce 8 horsepower.
Is there any rust that you have identified?
Are there any dents or scratches in the exterior white finish?
Do you have the key to the rear storage compartment?
My mistake. There is no battery.
Can be started with foot or hand

Photo will show you where the with your hand by pushing it down.
It will run on regular gas
Battery appears to be new it holds a charge manuals can be found whatever pictures I have listed in this action will go with it! Runs well I had no problem with stability
I'm wondering if the tires are new, if they have inner tubes, and if they hold air. I only ask because in one photo the front tire is nearly uninflated.
Also, when I was younger, I had a trail bike with a kickstart. Is this kickstart mechanism similar to those on old trailbikes? If so, where is the foot pedal used to kickstart?
This was built in the day of regular gasoline. Does it operate properly on unleaded, or must a lead additive be used?
Was the battery replaced in 2011?
Do you know the displacement of the one cylinder?
Do you have an owner's manual or can one be located online?
Chances are that I will be unable to test drive before purchase. Can you comment on the scooter's stability, vibration, and ease to drive, or lack thereof at 30-40 mph?
Is a key used to start the engine? How do you lock the scooter at the store?
Paul
@Artdeckco the approximate weight is 250 pounds The throttle to control the speed is in the handlebar. You can operate it through the handlebar grip. The brake pedal is on the right hand side of the running board. If you take a closer look in the photo you will see the brake pedal you can drive on the road, although there's no turn signals, you are still capable of doing hand singles, the old school away, the top speed for this Allstate Cushman is around 50 mph

My last two-wheel endeavor was a 1993 Yamaha FZR 1000. This is something very different and very cool. I have just a few questions: do you know the approximate weight, where is the throttle to control speed and where is the brake for stopping, are there turn signals, can this be registered for on road usage in, say, Pennsylvania, what is the top speed, what is the engine displacement, and were the tires replaced in 2011?
