One of the most iconic and coveted Porsche models of all time, the 356 Speedster was offered as a lightweight driver-focused sports car with a minimal folding soft top, fixed-back bucket seats, a low-profile windshield, and removable side curtains instead of roll-up windows. This 1956 Porche 356A 1600 Speedster is presented in Aquamarine Blue Metallic over tan leather upholstery with blue piping and an optional folding rear seat. It features upgraded front disc brakes and a replacement 356C flat-four engine that was rebuilt with a 1,750 big bore kit, an upgraded camshaft, and reworked cylinder heads. The car was purchased by the current owner about 10 years ago and underwent a subsequent bare-metal restoration by a renowned specialist before participating in the California Mille rally three times. This tastefully upgraded 356A Speedster is now being offered for auction out of Illinois.

This Speedster was stripped to bare metal and refinished in Aquamarine Blue Metallic (5607) by Posemato Bodyworks & Restorations along with replacements of the floor pan, longitudinals, and battery box. It features a tan convertible top with a matching boot cover and side curtain windows, body-colored bumpers, chrome trim, headlamp guards, dual side mirrors, beehive taillights, twin polished exhaust tips, and body-colored 15” slotted steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

Appointed with tan leather upholstery and matching square weave carpets, the interior features fixed-back bucket seats with contrasting blue piping, an optional folding rear seat, a body-colored dashboard fascia, and an original two-spoke steering wheel. Other accessories include a dashboard grab handle, coco floor mats, and original VDO gauges that were rebuilt and recalibrated during the restoration.

This Speedster was equipped with a replacement 1964 Porsche 356C-derived flat-four engine about 5 years ago that has been modified with a 1,750cc big bore piston and cylinder kit, an upgraded camshaft, and reworked cylinder heads. A claimed output of over 115 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt original 4-speed manual transaxle. Stopping power has been upgraded with front disc brakes and the suspension was overhauled with new shocks and bushings during the restoration.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery trickle charger, and a clean title.

Hi The original color was red with black interior. The only motor the car has is the 64 356C engine. I do not have a copy of the kardex cwsconsulting

Do you have the original motor? What was in the car prior to your replacing the motor? As stated previously, what was the original color combo? COA or Kardex?

  • Robertomesa1 2 months, 2 weeksago

@cwsconsulting Do you know what is the factory color combo?

  • cwsconsulting (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago
