Completed at the factory on November 30th of 1955 finished Signal Red over a beige leatherette interior, this 1956 Porsche 356A Speedster was reportedly kept in dry storage from 1973 up until 2003 when a bare-metal restoration was commenced by Klasse 356 of Allentown, Pennsylvania. The restoration was completed upon the previous owner's acquisition in 2010, followed by the installation of a replacement Porsche 912 engine which was rebuilt and upgraded with a 1,720cc big bore kit. Several upgraded parts from the Porsche 911 were also installed including a ZF steering box and dual-circuit master brake cylinder. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this 1956 Speedster was acquired by its seller in January 2022 and is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
During the restoration by Klasse 356, the Reutter bodywork of this Speedster was stripped to bare metal and refinished in its original color of Signal Red (6211) along with repairs to the battery box floor. The chrome door handles were refinished along with the round bezels of the early “beehive” style taillights. The tan soft top and removable side curtains were made more recently by Autobahn Interiors of San Diego, California. Equipment includes H4 headlights with chrome stone guards along with 15” wide-five steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and Kumho Power Star 758 Radial tires sized 165/80.
The cabin was reupholstered by Autobahn Interiors within the last ten years and comes trimmed in beige leather with red seat piping and tan square weave carpeting. Features include an ivory-colored two-spoke steering wheel, a black rubber floor liner, and a suite of analog VDO instrumentation rebuilt by North Hollywood Speedometer including a Störk oil temperature gauge.
During the 2010s, this Speedster was fitted with a replacement air-cooled flat-four engine sourced from a Porsche 912 and rebuilt by Bob Fox of Ambler, Pennsylvania, with a 1,720cc big bore kit. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual gearbox. Koni shock absorbers are equipped as well as an upgraded Porsche 911 ZF steering box, Porsche 911 dual-circuit brake master cylinder, 911 wheel cylinders, and steel brake lines. The seller states that all service items are currently up to date.
This sale will include a clean title and a toolkit.
The seller would like you to know: “I've put about 600 miles on the car including driving it in local Porsche rallies led by Hurley Haywood in his Speedster. The car has been displayed in the Porsche Jacksonville showroom alongside historically important vintage Porsches for various charity events, as well as on the main field at the Porsche Werks Reunion during the Amelia Island Concours, and events at the Brumos Museum. This is a beautiful Speedster that gets major compliments at all the Porsche events I take it to. It runs and drives as good as it looks and the extra horsepower makes quite a difference.”

Welcome everyone. I’m a collector who buys very good examples of my favorite cars. I enjoy them for a couple of years or more and move on to the next find. I also own a low volume classic car dealership which the car will be sold through. Any questions let me know. Good luck to all.
OMG, that is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!
I am very interested in this auction. I also have a 56 that was in dry storage from 73 to 2016. Aquamarine Metallic red interior , Coupe seats. Posemato in Chicago did the bare metal body and paintwork. Reid Vann the motor Metalkraft is doing assembly and detail. Motor is 180 numbers from original and every step has considered as original as possible.
