Paying tribute to the iconic 356A Speedster, this 1956 Porsche replica comes finished in black with a matching soft top over saddle brown leather upholstery. Built approximately 10 years ago, this example is said to have been held as part of a private collection until being acquired by the seller about two years ago. Upgraded with dual carburetors and front disc brakes, it is now being offered for auction out of California.

The replica fiberglass bodywork is finished in black and features a matching convertible soft top and boot cover. Equipment includes a tonneau cover, side curtains, teardrop-style taillights, chrome trim, and gold-finished lettering. It rides on 15” slotted chrome wheels dressed in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires from 2022. The seller notes some patina and paint blemishes including spider cracking on the drivers-side front fender. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin presents saddle brown leather upholstery spanning the bucket seats, upper dashboard, door inserts, and shifter & brake boots. The black carpeting below is accented by brown piping. Accessories include a 3-spoke black-finished steering wheel and analog instrumentation. The seller notes minor signs of wear and reports all gauges & accessories to be working properly.

This example equips an air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four engine which sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transaxle. The seller adds that newer dual carburetors have been installed along with a new starter and front disc brakes, and regular maintenance has been carried out during their ownership. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.

This sale will include a clean title and two keys.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I purchased the vehicle from a prestigious car collector who owned it for several years before me. I have enjoyed miles of smiles over the past couple of years and it's time to share the love and enjoyment with someone else. It has been loved and cared for the past couple of years storing it inside my garage, maintaining it regularly, and upgrading certain engine components. The car looks the part, and the patina shows the age of an older build. The paint does have some imperfections but depending on the new owner it could be enjoyed the way it is or taken to the next level. Happy Bidding and Good Luck to the next owner.”

@Shmohawk Yeah I not sure where it originated from. I was told most companies like Vintage didn't put labels on their vehicles a decade ago so not sure. I have not seem any labels on the door frame or frunk other than the AZ assigned Vin.

  • Shmohawk (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@CarCollector48 yes its 4 lug. I'm guessing this is a Chamonix Speedster from Brazil. The speedo is in KM and it looks like theirs but I could be wrong. There are no body tags or labels on the door frame or frunk?

    thank you

@Machine it is currently titled in Arizona as a 1956 Porsche SPECON. Hope this helps.

    Hello,
What is the speedster titled as? Thank you

  • Mytoy95 (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Given the car was in a prestigious collection and only 400 miles, I am surprised there are the paint issues given a 2015 build. Either way, thanks for giving an honest representation of what looks like a really fun car!

@gmi1806 The Mechanical conditions are excellent, the vehicle runs and drives very good. It starts up every time and drives great.
Engine Was just serviced at Kotters VW in San Diego, Brakes are in good shape and have been upgraded to Disc Brakes (not the standard drum brakes), not to sure about the stocks but the ride seems smooth. Unfortunately like any other VW or Porsche replica it does have a drip of oil on the garage floor from time to time however it is not excessive but very minor.

The exterior is Fiberglass so there is no dents. When I wash the vehicle I put the soft top up and I never see any water residue inside. The Motor is a VW 1700cc Dual Carburetors that has roughly 400 miles on it. NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT! Please let me know if you need any detailed photos or videos.

Your videos are very helpful. A couple of questions: Can you tell me about its mechanical condition (Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor), e.g., engine, brakes, transmission, shocks, any fluid leaks? Exterior – any dents, soft top leaks? Has this car ever been in an accident? I am assuming the engine is a VW engine. Is this correct? How many miles are on this engine?
    Thank you so much!

Great Looking Car! Are you open to pre-purchase inspections prior to end of the sale? Thank you

    Hello Everyone,

I am here presenting a good example of a 1956 Porsche 356 Speedster Tribute Replica. Unfortunately I don't know who the builder was and in addition I was told it was assembled circa 2015 or so. Maybe and hopefully someone in the Pcarmarket community can advise me and the potential bidders who they think the builder might be.

I can tell you the last couple years I have owned this classic it has been very reliable and a great driving vehicle, has never given me any problems. I have completed upgrades during my ownership including fitting the engine with dual carburetors and completed minor maintenance along the way which included new Battery, Alternator, Starter, along with routine oil changes. Yes the vehicle shows some minor paint imperfections however it always gets compliments how real it looks wherever it goes. Its a joy and excitement to drive..

I will be uploading a walk-around along with some driving video's today or tomorrow so everyone can see firsthand how fun and enjoyable this 356 really is! Please feel free to reach out in the comment section with any questions. Happy to help answer any questions and good luck to all the bidders out there.

    Cheers
