Created by Vintage Motorcars of California, this 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder replica features handcrafted fiberglass bodywork and a 2,825cc Porsche 914 engine custom-built by the air-cooled specialists at FAT Performance. The car also comes equipped with coilover suspension and Bilstein shocks as well as five-lug wheels, an oil cooler, and four-wheel disc brakes. A high-performance recreation of Porsche’s most iconic vintage racing car, this 550 Spyder replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona.

The replica fiberglass bodywork is finished in a traditional silver metallic paint color and adorned with contrasting accents over the rear fenders as well as aerodynamic wing mirrors, gold badging, twin decklid grilles, leather bonnet straps, vented 5-lug wheels, and a central hood-mounted fuel filler.

The painted cockpit is lined with classic square weave carpeting and features a pair of bucket seats in black leather. Accessories include Crow safety harnesses, vintage-style instrumentation, drilled aluminum pedals, windshield wipers, and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel with a Porsche-crested hub.

Derived from a Porsche 914, the air-cooled flat-four motor is said to have been custom-built by FAT Performance with dual carburetors, an oil cooler, and a 2,825cc displacement. The coilover suspension uses Bilstein shock absorbers and stopping power comes from disc brakes at each corner. The seller indicates there are no outstanding service items at this time and the mileage displayed on the odometer is accurate.

This sale will include a clean title.

@Chupee Thank you for your question. The car was built by Vintage at their facility. The motor and all pieces were assembled at the original build time. So the entire purchase price of the car included everything so they were not individual personalized invoices for separate items. Thank you.

@SteveinVT Thank you for your interest in the Porsche Spyder. The car has had two owners. It has a 1955 Porsche free and clear Arizona title and yes those are the 15 inch wheels.

  • Worldrider (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

Which company manufactured the rotors and pads?

  • Worldrider 1 year, 6 monthsago

Great looking Spyder - couple of quick questions:
    1) how many owners?
    2) What is it titled as in Arizona?
    3) Those wheels are 15in, correct?

    Thanks!
