Founded in 1964, Fiberfab initially focused on producing automotive accessories and body parts before expanding into the production of kit cars and fully assembled automobiles. This FIberfab Porshce 356 Speedster replica comes finished in red over tan upholstery and pairs a 4-speed manual transmission with its 1600cc Volkswagen flat-four. Titled as a 1973 Volkswagen in the state of California, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.
Between 1991 and 1994, this 356 replica was built upon a 1973 Volkswagen. The pan was shortened and the body was refinished in red, contrasted with a black convertible soft top. Details include chrome trim, dual rearview mirrors, Porsche Speedster badging, teardrop-style taillights, and polished dual exhaust outlets. It rides on 15” slotted chrome wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps and Cooper whitewall tires reported to remain in like-new condition. Some paint chips are noted, and detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin presents tan upholstery along the bucket seats, door panels, and dash pad. Contrasting chrome accents and black carpeting complete the interior, along with a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, analog instrumentation, and a modern radio with Bluetooth connectivity. The seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be in proper working order.
Beneath the decklid sits a 1600cc Volkswagen flat-four engine, sending power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The wiring and motor work are said to have been completed by Landi German Auto Repair, Parker Co in 1993, including the installation of a 1967 Karmann Ghia wiring harness kit, a Kadron carburetor kit (34mm), a Bosch 009 distributor, and a new steering box. Acquired by a previous owner in 1995, work included tune-ups, a valve adjustment, a relocated electric fuel pump, relocated fuel line and installation of new lines, and oil changes as needed. Some documentation is provided in the gallery, and the seller confirms there are currently no outstanding maintenance issues.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "This car runs great and is a true head-turner!"

I think this 356 Replica would have brought more Bidders/$$, if they would have answered the couple of reasonable questions asked by the bidders with no response.

It's funny how some memories creep up on you (usually a sound or a smell), but I remember going through SeaTac airport in Washington in the mid 80s, and on display was a Fiberfab replica MGTD. Because I was young and probably hadn't seen any in real life, that kit was really cool and obviously left an impression. I guess Fiberfab got into doing these Speedster replicas a few years later, and now 30 years after that they have something called the Valkyrie (no longer VW based and uses a v8 now). Anyway, thanks for the memory and GLWTA!
