Before producing its own line of tractors beginning in 1957, Porsche designed and produced engines for the German tractor company Allgaier GmbH under the Allgaier Diesel Porsche System brand. This 1953 Allgaier AP22 Porsche-Diesel is powered by an air-cooled 1.5-liter diesel twin-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It comes equipped with a rear power takeoff, a hydraulically actuated three-point rear hitch, and a rear portal axle. Said to have undergone a restoration in Europe several years before being imported to the U.S. in 2024, this early Porsche tractor is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
This AP22 has been refinished in red and features headlamps, taillights, a black three-spoke steering wheel, a padded seat, and 16”/32” beige-painted steel wheels. Accessories include a rear power takeoff (PTO) shaft, a hydraulically actuated three-point rear hitch, a temperature gauge, and a number plate holder.
Rated at 22 HP, the air-cooled 1.5-liter diesel twin-cylinder engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a portal axle. The seller indicates the engine was refurbished during the restoration in Europe and a safety inspection was completed upon import to the U.S.
This tractor is offered with a bill of sale.
The seller would like you to know: “The Porsche Allgaier AP 22 is a tractor that was first presented in 1953, and is part of a collaboration between Porsche and Allgaier.”

@FNMAG58 - Thanks for the history..... The Porsche is known and recognized as being red. I believe the restoration was to represent Porsches history and cooperation with Allgaier.
I did also find some good information to share.
Model History
The Porsche diesel tractors, known for their distinctive red color and the unmistakable design of the engine cover, which earned them the nickname "Red Noses", are an important testimony to the agricultural history of the post-war period. The tractors developed in the post-war years were built by Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH from 1956 to 1963. Production of these vehicles began in 1950 in cooperation with Allgaier Werke GmbH, was later continued under the umbrella of the Mannesmann Group, and in 1962 became cooperation with MAN before the production rights were sold to Renault in 1963.
The A 122 offered here belongs to the 100 series, which emerged from the cooperation between Porsche and Allgaier and was presented to the public in the spring of 1953. To avoid competition with Porsche's AP 22 model, the A 122 was initially produced exclusively for export. It was not launched on the German market by Allgaier until the end of 1954. By 1955, over 3000 units of this model had been produced. From 1956, Porsche-Diesel took over production and continued the model as the P 122 and later as the Standard 208 without any significant changes.

This is an Algaier tractor that came from the factory in either Safety Orange or Leaf Green. You’ve listed it as a Porsche-Diesel which is incorrect as AP means Allgaier-Porsche System. Please explain why someone would go thru such a restoration and not paint it the correct color?
