Introduced in 1948 as the fastest production car of its time, the Jaguar XK120 quickly established itself as a benchmark in postwar sports car design and performance. This 1953 example underwent a cosmetic and mechanical refresh in 2018 and 2019, including a repaint in Old English White and a full interior re-trim in red leather. Powered by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six engine with dual SU carburetors and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, it comes equipped with four-wheel drum brakes, auxiliary driving lights, 16″ steel wheels, Smiths gauges, and more. With limited use since the completion of its restoration, this XK120 roadster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.
The body was disassembled and stripped before being refinished in Old English White during its restoration in 2018. Exterior details include polished chrome bumpers, dual auxiliary driving lights, fender-mounted mirrors, teardrop-style taillights, and a single exhaust outlet. The headlights were replaced, and the rear wheel spats were refinished in May 2025. It rides on 16″ steel wheels with bright hubcaps and 6.00-series tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The open-top cabin features a replacement interior kit installed in 2018, including new red leather upholstery, fresh seat foam, carpeting, insulation, and door panels. Additional trim components and pull straps were added in May 2025. A black four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation with a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary readouts for amps, oil pressure, and water temperature. The seller notes that all gauges were replaced during its restoration and continue to function properly.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six engine is equipped with dual SU carburetors and routes power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Stopping power is facilitated by four-wheel drum brakes, with the hydraulic master and wheel cylinders replaced during a brake system service performed in May 2025. A new wiring harness was installed in 2018, and the cooling system was refreshed in 2019 to address an overheating issue, which included a replacement of the radiator, thermostat, and associated hoses. The crankshaft pulley was renewed in 2020.
This sale will include a clean title.
