A low-production car manufacturer active in London from 1945 until 1958, Allard was known for its use of traditional lightweight British sports car chassis and large American V8 engines. The motorcar offered here is a handmade replica of a 1953 Allard J2X that was built by California-based Hardy Motors in the early 1990s. The car is powered by a 350ci V8 engine and features a 3-speed automatic transmission, front disc brakes, an Edelbrock intake manifold, red leather upholstery, a bajo-style steering wheel, 15” chrome wire wheels, a luggage rack, and more. First owned in Texas before spending time in Pennsylvania and Arizona, this Allard J2X replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Missouri with under 2k miles showing on the odometer.
The replica fiberglass bodywork was created by Hardy Motors using authentic molds purchased from Allard Motor Company. Laid over a tubular steel chassis, the body is finished in blue and decorated with white #4 roundels, chrome rear bumperettes, a luggage reck, a hood scoop, leather bonnet straps, Brooklands-style windscreen, side-exit exhaust pipes, a removable white tonneau cover, and a driver’s side mirror. The car rides on chrome 15” wire spoke wheels with Allard-branded knock-off and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A matching spare wheels is mounted to the passenger side. The seller notes some paint chips are present as well as scrapes on the front fenders. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cockpit includes a bench seat upholstered in red leather with matching door panels and contrasting black carpets. Accessories include a machine-turned dashboard, white VDO instrument dials, a four-spoke banjo-style steering wheel, map pockes, lap belts, a passenger grab handle, dual windscreens, and a circular rearview mirror.
Power comes from a 350ci Chevrolet V8 engine with an Edelbrock intake manifold, polished air cleaner, and Allard-branded valve covers. The rear wheels are driven through a 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt GM rear end. The car also features front disc brakes, a heavy-duty front sway bar, front torsion bars, and coilovers.
This sale will include a clean title.

That is correct the Allard company in Canada from what I gathered got the mold from Hardy Motors.
My point below is that there is nothing “authentic” about fiberglass body molds and that they did not come from Allard who built the original cars. Nice looking replica though. If it drives anything like an original it will be a visceral experience.
There was (is?) an Allard Motor Company out of Canada I believe, no relation to the original, genuine, Allard. Is this where the fiberglass body molds came from? The original Allards from the post war era were aluminum body panels hand made using wooden bucks.
