The Citroën Traction Avant 15 Six Cabriolet is a highly coveted model known for its advanced engineering, elegant design, and rarity. This 1951 example, reportedly one of only seven produced by esteemed coachbuilder Marcel Bonhoure, showcases custom exterior and interior styling. Powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six engine paired with a 3-speed manual transmission, it is finished in green over a brown leather interior and features a folding soft top, rear-hinged front doors, a fold-out windshield, chrome trim, and green-colored steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. This rare and historically significant Citroën is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
Built on a monocoque chassis construction, the Traction Avant 15 Six Cabriolet features a streamlined design with a long hood and sweeping lines, complemented by a manually operated folding black soft top. This example is finished in green and boasts a chrome grille with vertical slats flanked by round, chrome-rimmed headlights mounted on the front fenders. It has stone guards ahead of the rear wheels, and chrome trim accents the bumpers, side mirrors, door handles, and “15 Six” badges. It rides on green-finished steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and is wrapped in Michelin X radial tires, with a matching spare in the rear. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior showcases front bench seats upholstered in brown leather, with a dashboard featuring a combination of wood and metal finishes, housing the glovebox, speedometer, ammeter, fuel, oil, and temperature gauges. Additionally, it has a unique pop-out rear bench seat from the trunk, providing extra seating that can be easily stowed away when not in use.
Power comes from a 2.9-liter inline-six equipped with a single carburetor, delivering up to 77 HP to front wheels through a 3-speed manual transmission. It has an independent front suspension with torsion bars, a live rear axle with torsion bars, and hydraulic drum brakes at all four corners to facilitate stopping power. The seller notes the vehicle undergoes annual maintenance, including fluid flushes and changes.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a bill of sale.

@GenauAutoWerks TYVM for your time.
Sounds like a good collector/custodian, unfortunately too much tap dancing here for my client. Good luck with auction.
@QuinzeSix : Only 5 produced from the Factory, all in France, as mentioned before.
Not a Replica, imho, i picture Replica as a body kit on a VW Beetle! Lol 😂
This is a Tribute in my book. From a Super Rare hard to find Luxurious 1951 Regular Traction Avant 15, 6 cylinders Big Brother of the Most Common 11.
Yeah: Man who serviced this car and patrolled the importation back then was beloved Claude Guillot. Certified from Citroen France who passed away recently. Watch article:

Thanks for the clarification. I was pretty sure it was a replica or rebodied but don’t have enough experience with Citroens to be sure. Clearly the vin plate is new😀
Lovely car my friends, but make no mistake, this is a replica. Difficult to put a value on it. And no, you can not take it to Pebble because the VIN plate is a replica as well. Readily available from sources in Europe like Claude Renel. I own a 1951 TAV 15-6 with VIN # 712100. Quite a coincidence! But the original VIN plate is quite drifferent from the replica plate shown on this car. I'd like to post a picture of the correct VIN plate, but do not know how to upload it. All the same, this is a very nice and desirable car! I know the owner and hold him in the highest regards. I also knew his in-house mechanic. He was the best. The car needs a few things from sitting: muffler, water pump. Nothing major. Good luck with the sale!

Bid With Confidence. To Win!
@AlexBert, nice looking car! I have a client who might be interested. You say service records exist, do you have any pictures of the records or other items that might come with the car that you can add to the gallery?
Also, any chance of a quick video of a start up or driving it going through gears?
@Joehurwich Mrs Michelin was probably flooded with Exclusivities. A Man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do! 😉 The Power of Love. 😂😂😂 Going back to this stunning ‘Bahama Blue’ 15-Six cab, in same collection for decades. History is known. Service records exists. Comes with the Lot.
@AlexBert Alex, I thought I read that the car for Mrs Michelin was a car from the 30sOr 40s not the 50s
Also do you have any ownership history on this car?
@Joehurwich Yes. Citroën made like 5. All in France. 1 was reserved for Mrs Michelin, wife of Citroën owner at the time. This specimen was made from a regular 15-Six, and crafted by Marcel Bonhoure. Google : Citroen Bonhoure to learn more. Have a very pleasant day to You & All.
Hi again, a cou0e of more questions.
Do you know the history of ownership of the car?
I a, a bit confused. When I research on the web, I don’t see that Citroen made this model cabriolet car in 1951, actually not since the mid 1930s. Was this rebodied from coupe?
Thanks, joe
@Zhornet muffler rusted probably. It Will be replaced before Boarding the Ramp to please next custodian. 2 CV are great cars. I have one specimen listed this week, please Check! Click AlexBert on this page to spot it.
Traction Avant 15-Six, and 2 CV same week !
Both Convertible Gems.
PS: Keep in mind: You need to Bring 10x (2Cv) to get a Traction 15-Six Cab.
Is muffler rusted out or is it just grease spots that look like holes. Any interest in a 87 restored 2CV as trade?
