Introduced in 1947, the Chevrolet Advance-Design light and medium truck series was the brand’s first major post-war redesign and was produced until 1955, leading the country in truck sales during its entire production run. This 1951 Chevrolet C3100 half-ton 5-window pickup was restored by Mike Farley of Dunlap, Tennessee, under prior ownership in 2018, with custom orange paintwork by Zane Stokes. It features an S10 frame, TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, Monroe Reflex shock absorbers, a wood-plank cargo bed, beige vinyl bucket seats, Pioneer speakers, a digital radio, and 18”/20” Ridler chrome wheels. Since the seller’s purchase in 2023, the hot-rodded truck was fitted with a new 350ci V8, including a FiTech fuel injection system, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, and a Vintage Air A/C and heating system. This modified Chevy 3100 pickup is now being offered for auction out of New York.

Mounted to an updated S10 frame, the truck’s bodywork was refinished in custom metallic orange paint by Zane Stokes under prior ownership. It was fitted with replacement tempered glass and features a wood-plank cargo bed floor, a chrome grille, chrome bumpers, running boards, curved quarter windows, dual exhaust pipes, and 18”/20” Ridler chrome wheels. Some areas of the exterior were refinished under the current ownership, along with minor dent repair. The seller describes the paintwork to be in excellent overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin has been redone featuring a painted dashboard and door panels, beige vinyl upholstery, and matching carpets. Accessories include aftermarket bucket seats, a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, a center console with an armrest and cup holders, analog Dolphin instrument dials, an FiTech fuel injection controller, a digital radio, and Pioneer speakers mounted behind the seats. A Vintage Air A/C and heating system was installed by the current owner.

A new 350ci V8 engine was installed under current ownership and features an FiTech fuel injection system, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, tubular headers, a dual exhaust system, and an aluminum radiator. The rear wheels are driven through an S10-sourced TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. The truck is equipped with Monroe Reflex shock absorbers, front coil springs, rear leaf springs, four-wheel disc brakes, and power steering. The seller indicates a thorough inspection was completed in preparation for sale.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Acquired the car at an estate auction a couple years ago, installed new engine, corrected body/paint imperfections as well a mechanical, installed new vintage AC and heat, nice solid restoration, enjoyed the car during the summer, time to  let go, working on new projects.”

A video of the oil gauge has been added to the listing.

  • nycdux (seller) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

    Hello, PCM community ,
I’m addressing the oil gauge question. I had my mechanic look at it this morning. It seems that the sending sensor has a fault. It probably happened over the weekend when I was driving the car.   Everything else is fine, but for the sake of the sale and having everything working in good order , I’ll order the full set from Dolphin and will ship it to the new owner. The set is $177.00. Meanwhile, my mechanic installed a gauge, and I’m uploading the video so you can see the oil pressure in the engine. This gauge can be easily removed; no holes or anything were done to install it.

    Good morning PCM community,
Today is auction day. I wanted to thank everyone for the bids.
This rod is solid, and it will be sold to the highest bidder. So, bid with confidence. The car was restored by professionals. I know how savvy the PCM community is, and how they appreciate a good example of a very professional restoration, the work implied, and how much investment and time it takes to restore a car.
Everything here was comprehensively detailed, along with the pictures of the rod.
Good luck to all in the auction.

@CalH hello, I’ll double check the gauges, but gas and speedometer were fine. I’ll make sure they are in good working condition. We just performed a 360 mechanical check to ensure everything is in good order for the sale. There are no leaks at all, fluids are good all around, and no smoke odor in the car. What you saw was an e cigarette (odorless vape ), so the car is fine with no odor at all .

  • nycdux (seller) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

@Gaviglio good evening, yes gauges are fine. I’ll have my mechanic double check to make sure , that is no issue at all , and yes AC and heat are working on a brand new unit, since it was just installed from Vintage Air. Parts and labor for that was $5800

  • CalH (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

In the video of you driving it looked like the oil gauge is not working, is that correct? Also in the video I saw that you were smoking, is there a bad smoke odor inside the truck, or any kind of odor?
