  • Lot #: M-0034471

Available for auction is a Rolls Royce dealership sign. The seller states the sign dates back to the 1950’s and was displayed in Jack Barclay’s RR dealership in Mayfair, London. The seller's grandfather acquired the sign from his friend in the 70’s who worked at Jack Barclay’s.

The sign is constructed of a metal housing and Perspex front with the RR signage. The RR is a metal embossed frontage that protrudes approximately 5 mm from the Perspex face. The sign functions properly and is in excellent overall condition. The sign measures 21”x 18” x 4.5”. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.

    Hi folks

    Just a point of clarification.
This superb RR dealership sign that dates back to the 50/60’s was not displayed at Jack Barclay’s.

We have three of these signs on consignment and the next one to be advertised will be the Jack Barclay’s sign.
It was a simple mistake of sending the wrong pics out that did not coincide with the script.

I will of course accept any bid retractions on this sign if required.

Notwithstanding this, the sign is a lovely piece and functions correctly and is 100% a dealership sign from many years ago displayed in the UK.

Well seller, I am 110% convinced that this item is the same as the lot offering from Bonhams auctioneers - your sign and there sign have identical scratches, chips and even the same dark marking in the upper right hand corner on the perspective screen. It's the same sign and I am sorry but your 'Grandfather' remark is a fabricated lie in my opinion.

@Jonnyreggio - why would you respond to my question as if it were you that owned this item? The seller is @Dino6163?

I think I can see what has happened here, I think @Dino6163 and @Jonnyreggio are both either the same person, or working together, and I believe they forgot to switch usernames hence the odd response.

I just looked at the sellers other auctions and I can see the same thing happened with the Ferrari sign being auctioned at the moment. Interestingly (or more worryingly) is that the alias @Jonnyreggio seems to frequently be bidding on this seller's lots.

@PCARMARKET I think some form of insider trading is going on which is not fair game. I could be completely wrong but I can see some blatant irregularities here.

    Hi AMX
I have several RR illuminated signs that date back to the 60’s and they all have a very similar look.
I think they are really cool..
And I’m looking to add to my collection.

    Hi AMX
Possibly similar. My sign has been in the family for decades.

I understand you are probably trying to enjoy your weekend but I was keen to know more information on the sign as I am considering another purchase decision.

That being said, I was spending some time earlier looking for Rolls Royce signs as a reference and I stumbled upon this:

    https://cars.bonhams.com/auction/28307/lot/345A/a-rolls-royce-illuminating-box-sign-4/

This looks identical to the one you are selling.

    Ok thanks.

Any info regarding my other question?

  • Dino6163 (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    Hi

It has a UK plug, however, it will be supplied with a voltage adapter. The sign works perfectly with this.

    Thanks

    John

    Hello seller,

Are there any photos of it in the dealership or any paperwork to accompany the sale?

Is it US or UK electrics?

    Thanks
