Available for auction is a 1:8 scale Maserati 450S model. The model is a limited edition numbered 107/405 in collaboration with Maserati Clasiche and Pit Stop S.R.L. of Modena, Italy. The model measures 21” in length with a weight of approximately 20lbs. This model comes complete with its original packaging, including its original box, protective cloth wrapping, microfiber Maserati Clasiche dust cloth, and certificate of authenticity.
Development of the original 450S began in 1954 under the project name Tipo 54 and resumed in 1956 when Maserati was tasked with producing a V8 for use in an Indianapolis 500 chassis. After the powerplant was tested in a 350S chassis, a new platform was designed by Valerio Colotti to accommodate the increased power. The model gave Maserati second place in the 1957 World Championship of Makes before production ceased in 1958 after approximately 9 chassis had been built. This re-creation is based on a solid uniformed piece and wears hand-formed lines that replicate the original 450S’s Fantuzzi coachwork and are reinforced with an aluminum plate at the base that has been lined with felt.
The body is finished in red, and closeups in the photo gallery show the headrest fairing and a rear decklid. Features include a hood bulge flanked by louvers, faired-in headlights, a wraparound Perspex windscreen, louvers behind each wheel, and steering wheel. At the bottom are the model specifications, including the model number 107/450. Don’t miss your opportunity to own a piece of Maserati’s racing legacy with this 1:8 scale model, making an excellent addition to any collection.
