Available for auction is a handcrafted wooden model hydroplane, recreated following the imagery of the iconic Ferrari Arno XI. According to the seller, every component of this hydroplane has been handcrafted. Its flawless exterior boasts a smooth finish, skillfully sealed with a protective varnish and micro-sanded to ensure its longevity for years to come. The model features brass and stainless-steel fittings throughout, with not a single piece of plastic used in its body. In addition, the seat is upholstered with real leather.
Steeped in history, the Arno XI hydroplane stands as the only Ferrari-powered hydroplane ever constructed. Born from the creative minds of Achille Castoldi and the expertise of legendary drivers Alberto Ascari and Luigi Villoresi in the early 1950s, this masterpiece showcases its Ferrari DNA with its distinctive red coloring. However, its true marvel lies beneath the surface, where a roaring 600 HP V12 engine propels it over the water, achieving a remarkable record speed of 241.708 km/h, or just over 150mph. This astonishing feat was accomplished on the waters of Lake Iseo in 1953, solidifying its place in history by setting an unbeaten record in the 800 kg category.
The seller states the piece has been kept in its original box for the entirety of its life for safe keeping. With dimensions of 20" x 8" x 5.5" inches, this handcrafted model captures the essence and grandeur of the Arno XI, making it a remarkable addition to any collection or a standout for enthusiasts and collectors alike. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.

@M-gineer Hi all,
Thank you for your most recent bids. My grandfather was a collector of all Italian automobilia and the time has come to find these pieces a new home. He travelled every year to Italy for Ferragosto (2 week vacation at the end of August in Italy) and often came back with vintage Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Bugatti pieces to add to his collection. As for the scale, it measures 20 inches long, which I would assume is 1:8 scale. Grazie e buona fortuna!
